Okay, I'm not arguing that Marshall is better than Avery, or vice versa. Saying we dodged a bullet on a coach that built up Wichita State is asinine. I'm glad we have Avery, but I would have been just as happy on having a coach that's been to a Final Four, an elite 8, 2 sweet 16s, and 13 tournament appearances.

We'll see what Avery can do next year with a top 5 class.

I was desperately hoping we wouldnt get Marshall. He just doesnt seem or look like an Alabama coach. Reminded me of Gus Malzahn too much. Never thought he would be wildly successful here. He would have us playing decent ball and have a respectable program but I want us to go higher and win championships. We must be like a Florida or Ohio State or Michigan. We hired the right guy for that.

And...Marshall would certainly leave us for another job. It would just be a matter of when and for which job.

Fair enough, but I think the thread was just a humorous jab at his crazy, drunk wife.

Marshall definitely would've left us for a better job. If he had taken the Bama job, he probably would be leaving right now for Indiana or somewhere like that. Avery may eventually leave if he has a ton of success here, but he seems to really like everything about Alabama so hopefully he'll stay awhile if he's successful. I at least want Avery to turn us back into a basketball school or a consistent tourney team before leaving, that way it won't look like a bad job and another good coach will come along and want the job.

I think the South Carolina run could do wonders for our returning players. It's an easy pitch for Avery. "This team in the sweet 16 that just beat the hell out of Duke, you're better than them, they just brought it every night, we have to do that and look where we can go"

South Carolina is as inept offensively as we are. They play solid defense like us and they drive to the basket and draw fouls. It doesn't hurt to have a go-to player. For once I am finally excited again for Alabama basketball. I haven't fallen for it the last few years because we haven't had talent, but next year we are going to have some top notch talent. Still think we need to find a good offensive big man if we want to reach our potential. Doesn't have to be Antonio Mcdyess. Give me someone like Dudley, Hendrix, Davidson, Chuck Davis...just a competent offensive basketball player that's taller than 6'7" and comfortable playing with his back to the basket. Get someone like that to pair with someone like sexton and we are making some noise. If we don't make the tournament next season then Avery might not be the guy to do it, but I'll be shocked if we don't make it next season

Umm, the LAST thing we need at Alabama is a coaches wife drunk as shite in the stands cursing like a sailor resulting in getting personally escorted out of the damn stadium.

She wasn't drunk, but towards the bitter end, Mrs. Gottfired got a little testy in the stands as well.

I think so too, but I also think it's too early to say Avery is better than Marshall. Avery is certainly a good salesman, promoter, and recruiter, but Marshall has had way more on the court success so far. Avery hasn't had enough time to build his college résumé yet.

And Pearl beat Avery twice last year. It's basketball, head to head is pretty insignificant especially over only 1 meeting.

Marshall won big at Winthrop and has won huge at Wichita for a decade now. And he's done it every season. He is a phenomenal college basketball coach.

There was a poster on the old TideSports who went by the handle of "gottfried sucks". He was on a one man crusade to rally the fans to get Gottfried fired and would start constant threads about it.

Anyway, he got into personally with Mrs. Gottfried at a home game when he yelling and talking trash from the stands to Coach Gottfried.

Yeah he trolled the frick out of the board until he was banned. Wondering if he was an AHM alter.

What exactly did AHM do to destroy the Woolly? I'm not gonna lie, I wouldn't post here if that shite didn't happen.

So Wooly was supposed to be a Bama version of Shaggy Bevo and lot of people, myself included, migrated there when Tard Sports went to a pay site. The guy who started it was baws with blacklab who owns Shaggy and also owns a web hosting company in Austin. Wooly was hosted on the same server (or whatever) as Shaggy. Hannibal either bought or acquired Wooly from the guy who started it (name escapes me)

AHM got perma banned for trolling Wooly...but somehow he reached out to blacklab and got moderator rights on Wooly. His pitch to blacklab was that he was going get some these TideSport part time writer-reporter hacks to get involved and thus increase traffic and drive revenue. To be fair, Hannibal is a cuck I/m/o and ran a shitty board and was getting be the same old in-bred group in a circle jerk: a bunch of tired arguing and trolling all day. Hanni. was a weak owner/moderator and let people run wild...not like Chicken and his team who don't take any shite. AHM cucked Hanni, took over mod rights, and opened up the gates to all the banned posters. Hanni got him booted but, bitch that he is, took the site down.

He subsequently put it back up. Don't want to link a rival board...just Google it.

I used to post on Woolly, but signed up in '13 because ESPN went to shite. I didn't think Woolly would ever get that big because everyone either migrated their or to CrimsonRedSports. So I stuck with ESPN until it made you sign up with Facebook. Only person I remember getting banned during my time was that "rolltide92" guy, who was the most pessimistic piece of shite on the board. BamaChine owned it for a short period, but I thought it was Tom in Bham who ran the site.

TideSports should have never went away.

BamaChine was the guy I was thinking of and Tom too...Hanni. acquired it from him. 'Chine hangs out on Shaggy. Crimson Red Sports is where people migrated and TerryP seems like a good dude...but all three boards: Wooly, TideSports, and CRS are slooooowwwww and boring. Maybe they will pick up when football season starts up again. Alabama fans really don't have a single great board anymore...it all fragmented.

TideSports should be a case study of how you frick up an on-line community and lose your ad revenue. I think the New York Times organization owned the Tuscaloosa News at that point. They saw the huge, loyal fan base that congregated there and decided to try and monetize the board figuring people would pay up. A few did but by and large people won't pay for that content as it ends up on a free board like the Rant anyway.

I think you're mixing up your boards. TerryP owns RollTideBama, which actually took in users from the Woolly after all the b.s started. CrimsonRedSports was/is the polar opposite of Woolly. Many of the old TS users congregated there because they didn't want to be apart of a place filled with so much banter and vulgarity. There is a new Woolly, but it isn't even the least bit like it used to be, or nearly as active.

True. This is the best one we have currently. If TalibanFans.com wasn't so uptight, it would be a great place to chat and talk sports.
