My point is everyone has an agenda when it comes to a SEC school and everyone on here wants Ole Miss to get hammered because it helps their school out. Ole Miss cheats on the same level as probably everybody else. Ole Miss should still get penalized for getting caught but to act like other schools are cleaner than Ole Miss is being very naive.

I'm going to say no. I know of no other sec university that cheated while the NCAA was there investigating them for cheating!

I mean.... Common sense goes a long way.

I think I've made my feelings on this pretty clear. While I absolutely empathize with the average OM fan's pain, I do feel that the NCAA must penalize them harshly. Doing otherwise would set an even more dangerous precedent than we currently have. I have no doubt that cheating is rampant in college football, but until each and every individual school is proven to be cheating, you can't do anything about it. Again, "everyone is doing it" is not a valid defense.

The last point is a bit of personal hope that I hold on to. I genuinely hope that serious cheating on an institutional level is relatively rare. I have to cling to that hope because if I didn't I would just stop watching college sports altogether and that would be heartbreaking for me.

I don't derive any sort of joy from seeing OM fans suffer, man.

You're swallowing the party line. It is well established by now that Ole Miss was going above and beyond what is just the normal course of business, and that's exactly why other teams spoke up. This wasn't just keeping up, your boosters started rocking the boat, openly offering cash and other benefits to make sure they won those battles instead of just being on the same playing field.

The poor me shite doesn't fly in this case. This isn't Ole Miss getting picked on because they tried to keep up with the big boys, this was slow rolling past the IRS head office in a $100K vehicle on 32s with the system turned up when you haven't filed a tax return in ten years.

I don't think that's true bc if it were you wouldn't have gotten the recruiting classes you got for those few years. For an also ran with little history, a small fan base, and relatively weak facilities to suddenly start pulling in top 10 classes out of nowhere indicates more is going on than just your run of the mill stuff everybody does.
