-brought in a crappy recruiting class this year
-had a losing season last year
-is a true son
-was hired by an AD with one foot out the door
-had zero experience as a D1 head coach before getting the job
Hmmm, this all seems very familiar...

Barry Odom is hopefully going to prove a lot of peeps wrong. You can't not like the guy and has a fire. Also dealt with a crap situation that has hurt recruiting in both sports.
I also thought Kim was going to do well, soooo yeah.
Odom is Salty though and has an entire offense coming back that can take the next step and be very dangerous.
You'd think he will get his D in order as well as that's his background.

Barry is 40. Kim is 61.
Barry has already had a better season than Kim.
Not saying Barry will be a lights out coach. but in no way can he be anywhere close to kimmie

Kim finished 9-23 his first year. That is the equivalent of finishing 1-11 in CFB. Finishing 5-26 is the equivalent of going 0-12
Barry's 4-8 is similar to a 13-18 CFB record. We'll be fine.

You may not like Odom's stars rankings, but there's no doubt he does a good job recruiting to areas of need. Time will tell as to whether or not his players play beyond their rankings, but you have to like a lot of these players' potential. Call them diamonds in the rough or whatever, but that was the core of Pinkel's philosophy, and it largely worked, Missouri will always have to find kids they can develop into players that play like 4 and 5 stars. That's just the reality of who we are.
We won't know how good this class really is for three years. That's when it will be fair to criticize. Until then, judging recruits on ratings services who base their ratings mostly on offer lists is a bit of a fool's errand.
Oh, by the way, Charles Harris, Shane Ray, Ziggy Hood, Chase Daniel, Mitch Morse, Justin Britt, Chase Coffman, Spoon, Danario Alexander, Markus Golden, and many others called and said to tell you hello. Who were they? All players who were 2 and 3 star rated when they came to Mizzou.

Clearly we are not firing enough coaches. This is what I'm suggesting. We hire a coach on Monday and fire them by Wednesday. If we do this enough times we will win it all boys.
and who is that freshman QB we have coming in? We need to start him.

Stuff like this just undermines his ability to get this program back where it needs to be.
The comparison is absolutely without basis.

Barry showed some signs of life last year. We had some bad breaks in the MTSU game and he outcoached himself against Georgia.
It was a disappointing year. But not a hopeless year.
Basketball is hopeless right now.
Don't confuse the two.
