16-5 final. 50-8 for the weekend. BGSU gave a lot away, but I'll take it.

What I liked even more than returners Choruby, Pennington, Davis, et. al, playing well was the impact of our freshmen. All of those guys were nails.

Players of the Series

CF - Nick Choruby
To be perfectly honest I didn't expect a huge season from Nick. He was a singles hitter with not much power. Through his first 210 ABs he had 58 hits, with 51 of them being singles. He looked like a different player this weekend. Over the 3 games series, he went 8-12 (.750) with 5 runs batted in & 10 runs scored including a double, home run, his first ever, and 4 walks. Huge props to the SR leader.

SP - Brigham Hill
Hill wasn't efficient with his pitches and did allow 7 hits and 2 walks, but the JR righty struck out 10 and only gave up one run in 6 innings or work. It was a nice opening start for the Friday night ace.

UTL - Jorge Gutierrez
We had a lot of freshmen making an impact this weekend, but I came away extremely impressed with the former Kempner Cougar. While he didn't start game 1 or 2 he still made his presence felt by going 3-5 with 3 runs batted in, 5 runs scored, and 2 home runs. It is going to be hard for RC to keep him out of the lineup these next few games.

2B - Braden Shewmake
I tried to only pick 3 players of the series, but it was too difficult so I had to go back in add Shewmake. He physical appearance and smooth swing is very apparent. It makes perfect sense why everyone who saw him was hyping him. The kid drove in 8 with 2 extra base hits. He was second to only Choruby in hits this weekend. It's early, but I think we have a special one here.

Excited to see Dox get the start, but bummed Turner isn't in the top 4 of out starters. His stuff is just so damn good.

Too bad the hairy mole known as the McFerrin Center is right there screwing up the scenery.

Dox has great stuff, but he's having some control issues.

Bunt back to Dox and he tries to beat the guy home. Could have been an easy out with a toss to Coleman.

I've seen enough. Dox isn't throwing strikes and looks rattled after that brain fart. Lets not let this one get away early. Down 0-3 with 2 runners on.

And he walked him in. SFA just hit around on us. We're Bowling Green.

I wouldn't be worried with last year's team. I don't trust this year's offense yet.

Sac fly. Down 5-0. Looked like a grand slam off the bat.

Get Chafin out of there too. Why are we throwing lefies when SFA is running out a line up of righties?

Way too many freebies and getting behind the count even with this umps small zone.
