Syracuse is in too tough a league. They are going to get clobbered week in and week out. .500 will be an accomplishment

The entire SEC is experiencing the scheduling issues that USCe went through last year
Get some wins over expected top ranked teams who consistently are nationally ranked only to see them devolve into a dumpster fire

Which means you probably don't get those wins if Syracuse or uconn were normal

They were previously in a much tougher league. The Big East is the best basketball conference and it had 18 teams in it when Syracuse was a member.

They're just 3-4 in league play, not 0-7.
As I said earlier, it is too early to give up on Syracuse. Just two years ago they started ACC play with 4 straight losses then won a few to start 3-4 in league play. They then proceeded to win 23 overall games and make it to the Final Four.
Never count out a Jim Boeheim team. Ever

This years team is bad. I'm counting them out. If they played in the sec they might win enough games to be respectable
They are 11-9. Everytime they play so,wine good they get beat by 18 points. There isn't a turnaround this year. Look at there schedule
Btw playing in the big east etc is irrelevant. Those Syracuse teams were good. This one isn't. That's the point
Uconn, Oklahoma and Syracuse are the pits. .
I would love to make a friendly gentlemens bet on whether Syracuse makes the tournament. They've already played Boston college twice and lost by 20 once. They got a lot of tougher games to go

quote:Not really. Georgia, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Tennessee, A&M played tough schedules. They just all went nearly 0fer against good competition. Vandy has a signature win now, but their record is so bad.

I'm hoping USC has a bit of a hangover from their big game and we can sneak out a win there.
There is a decent chance at it. Teams' record after playing Kentucky is not very good. They can drain a lot out of a team.

Yep, I think Auburn is the only team in conference with a win. But we did get some help by playing LSU.

4 SEC teams in RPI top 20 this morning.
For some reason Georgia and Ole Miss are not listed in the RPI rankings. Must be a glitch.
I can't remember the last time the league had four teams in the top 20. Three in the top 12.

Haha people are still so upset about our loss to A&M that they bumped us from D1 basketball...maybe we can make the D-2, D-3, or NAIA basketball Tourney. Lol

Surprised we jumped to 12.

I think there is some sort of glitch in the system this morning...We may see those numbers drop when all teams are accounted for.
So I am going to wait and see if ESPN updates more in a bit

I updated the OP RPI rankings using warrennolan for the time being. The ESPN RPI just isn't adding up this morning. Hopefully they will get it fixed shortly.
4 teams in top 28. 3 teams in top 17 according to his site.
Big weekend ahead for the league, but especially for Kentucky, Florida, and Arkansas.

IF TN somehow went 2-0 this week we actually could enter the NCAA discussion. I know we won't and we aren't an NCAA team, but it is impressive we are scheduling at a level that will get us in the mix in future years when this team grows up.
OMG it's happening!

Getting a win over Kansas State Saturday would be a big boost for Tennessee. Would be a top 50 win but also would put TN in the top 50 of the RPI themselves.

We'd have to pretty much win out to have a shot at the NCAA

I think 18 or 19 regular season wins would put us firmly in the conversation.
