It was a blatant PI done intentionally by the DB because he knew he was beat for the TD.

This. And it was actually a heads up play by the DB. He was beat and all he could do to prevent the game winning TD was to tackle the WR. If they intentionally grab the receivers at the LOS on the last play it runs the clock down and forces Clemson to kick a FG.

It is definitely pass interference and, when SEC refs aren't officiating or it's not Bama doing it, it is usually called when it's that egregious.

Also the ball being put at the 2 was also a bad call bc he wasn't in the EZ.

Even if he wasn't, he was at least at the 1 or 2 yard line and it would have been a spot foul, so the ball would still have been placed there.

They didn't. For once, Alabama had to win a game against a tough opponent on their own and without the help of the refs. They couldn't.

Correct. Saban's DBs are taught to interfere, hold, etc. and put the onus on the ref to call them for it. SEC refs rarely do, so they get away with it. Their tactics don't work as well when they are actually held to the rules.

They tried, and one of them did just that. The other one made a bad decision and tried to go outside instead of inside and directly tackle the receiver like Saban probably told him to.

Clear pass interference on that play; the only remotely questionable thing about that play was the fact that only three seconds ran off the clock. Big advantage for Clemson as they may have opted for the field goal if only five seconds or less were left.

I don't think that PI call on Bama at the end of the game was a good call. The defender did have his arm around/on him but DB's do that almost every play and it is barely called. The Clemson WR tripped over his own feet too which is why he fell. If you're not gonna call that in the 2nd quarter of a regular season game you definetely don't call it with 6 seconds left in the natty. Also the ball being put at the 2 was also a bad call bc he wasn't in the EZ. Im glad Bama lost and but I hate seeing refs decide a game.

Lulz. You're an SEC ref IRL aren't you?

This is dead wrong it's. ot NFL. NOt a spot foul it's over 15 yards down field so 15 yard penalty which would be half the distance from the 19 yea I agree it was pi no question but should have foot ball about 8 yard line and would kick fg and go to ot

It is a spot foul in college up to 15 yards, so you are the one who is wrong. Secondly, they were at the 16, not 19, so you are wrong again.

Only difference in NFL and college rule is PIs of more than 15 yards but not in the end zone.

In my opinion you let them play at the goal line with 6 seconds in the game, no way I'd throw that flag if I'm the ref.

The game situation should have no influence on any official's call. If it's PI in the first quarter, it's PI with the game on the line. If it's PI at midfield, it's PI in the end zone. Shouldn't be called either tighter or looser based on the game situation.

I didn't see any protest from the defender. The receiver made a good move and was going around for the score on the fade and all the defender could do was grab him to stop the score. With like 10 second left, taking the penalty was better than taking the score. It was the right call.

If you would call it in the first quarter, you gotta call it at the end.

I slowed this down and watched it a few times. The DB did not cause the guy to fall or impede his progress. He put his arm around his waste and immediately pulled away.....not even sure he touched him. Then the receiver tripped over his own feet. If he hadn't tripped the call wouldn't have been made.

That being said, I'm glad Bama lost.

Those refs were terrible though.

It was PI but I think it occurred on the 2 yard line. Would have been a half the distance penalty.
