MSU- how big is Dan Mullen's leash?

I was surprised he was making so much $4.4M. I think he is a really solid coach. Always thought someone would throw money at him, but honestly MSU is being really competitive with pay (unlike cough LSU). This year was no doubt a rebuilding year, and it seems like everyone in the fan base is cool with that. Is that accurate?
If it is why would he ever leave MSU (sans Starkvegas joke)? Ability to have a really good year, and also lead way to rebuild, with top pay.

How 'long'?
Dan Mullen is the 2nd best coach in the SEC. There's no way MS State will get rid of him.

Big enough to fit around bert. He aint going anywhere for a while, but another Dak isnt walking through that door right away. Will take a rebuilding process, but I feel like hes a good coach and deserves some time.

Qb is not our biggest problem right now. Fitz is developing very quickly into a bigger, faster, and better arm than Dak had. I remember Dak as more of a dink and dunk passer(back shoulder at the sideline) with the occasional deep ball.
Fitz seems like he has a cannon just hasn't got it completely under control.
Fitzgerald Qb stats
Defense is our problem but hopefully Sirmon will tighten up that ship and stick around for more than 1 season. Back to the basics of tackling and taking the correct angles to the ball.

Also, OL is just terrible. I know they played well in the egg but I am still not satisfied and believe we need a new OL coach that is going to hit the recruiting trail hard.

QB is not really the problem...more the atrocious defense.

God it's so easy to pick out the people that are relatively new to the rant. He's a state fan.

QB isn't the problem. It will never be the problem under Mullen. Fitz is well above Dak at this point in his career in productivity. And we have a 4-star out of Louisiana committed to us that might be the best high school QB Mullen has ever signed.
Defense is the problem. And that's where the best high school athletes in MS are. The highest paid defensive lineman in the NFL is a country boy from Yazoo City, MS who played at MSU. State is probably going to have 3 Pro Bowlers on the defensive side of the ball.
We have a serious rebuild on that side of the ball. Having three defensive coordinators in three years doesnt help. If we get some consistency, we'll get the defense back in order.

Fitz has progressed well as a Qb but I'm not going to pretend his production means he'll be half as good as Dak. I'll believe he progresses as much as a passer when I see it. Remember, Dak was much more of a passer in high school compared to Fitz who threw it like 60 times his entire career.

MSU DL was underrated when you talk about MSU run last year

You can't tell? He's not talking about accuracy.. Fitz has a goddang cannon.

Fitz has more raw arm talent. What sets Dak apart is the leaps and bounds he made every single offseason, the kid was constantly improving.
Most of our recruiting guys say Fitz had more arm talent in camps than anyone else they've seen camp with us. It's apparent this year that he has a cannon, just has a lot of polishing to do.

If Fitz can chill with the Falcons cheerleader instead of the crack pipe in the offseason, he can fix his accuracy issues.
But the guy can throw the ball over the mountains.

Yall obviously watched a lot more of him than I did. I just remember the cries for Tiano at the beginning of the year. Now he has played the worst defenses in the conference and people are bandwagoning him. Not sure how much he improved vs. how bad the defenses he played were. Guess we will find out more next year.

Here's why I love Dan Mullen:
Arm strength, measurables, 40 times, etc, mean next to nothing to him. What he wants/demands more than anything is a player who will stand in front of the team and do this
ETA - I thought Tiano would be the next in line to do this

Looks like he's been around awhile. Maybe he's still just shell-shocked over Orgeron. Or maybe how bad Ole Miss finished. Hard to tell.
