Has Randy Shannon been discussed? Someone just texted me that name and I looked him up. At least he has LB experience, but seems kinda underwhelming to me.

This hire better be fireworks because the program and recruiting needs some spark of life.

Randy Shannon would be a good hire. He is a darn good X's & O's guy along with a great recruiter. The thing is if I remember correctly he got "stung" bad in a Bo Davis deal (i.e. as in dead to rights with a photo type way).

I would be okay with Randy Shannon but we could do better. He has this reputation as a great recruiter but you never hear about him pulling any big prospects to Florida or Arkansas when he was there.

This. He has the reputation but his recruiting was average at best and always seemed like the recruits that he got to sign would always get in trouble/kicked off the team.

So HDN-esque, got it. He'll fit perfectly into Ole Miss history.

I said during the egg bowl the way the announcers mentioned wommacks son being the DC at South alabama gave me a bad feeling that we would hire him.

He pulled Alex Collins and a 4* OG while at Arky.

They are talking on 247 about rumors with Kane Wommack. Talk about a nightmare.

It has to be Leavitt. I wish we would look at the Temple DC also. Temple has had a top 20 defense in each of the past 3 seasons, top 5 in two of them.

That was charlie partridge.

Actually, I'm not sure about the og but I know Alex Collins was recruited by charlie partridge.

247 has an all-time list of commits that Randy Shannon has secured. I just went through it and the only really notable players were Denver Kirkland and Antonio Callaway.

Like I said, he is a good recruiter but nowhere near the ace that we need. He would be an excellent 2nd or 3rd recruiter on a staff but I wouldn't trust him to be the primary top dog.

There aren't too many DC's that are primary recruiters. Though he isn't bad by any stretch in the croot'in side of things and a helluva lot better at it than Wommack. Would rather have Shannon as DC and LBer coach. Bring in Crime Dog as the closer and DB coach.

That's a good point. Now let's see if we can find a way to our rid ourselves of Batoon so we can have the luxury of getting a competent coordinator and ace recruiter.

That would really be a Christmas miracle.

I have been told that Batoon is going to be moved back to an analyst position.

I've heard this, and also heard Freeze is waiting for the new hire to decide if he's bringing in his own staff, effectively using him as the scapegoat to any and all firings.

I honestly could give less than 1 mediocre drunk fat girl frick if we keep any defensive coaches. They have nobody but to blame but themselves for my apathetic view since they fielded likely one of the worst defenses I have ever seen. I mean they made that coke sniffing "you don't know who I am" douchbag QB from State look like Vick 2.0.
