Play calling was atrocious, last night. You can say things like "we are playing vanilla" and other excuses like that but when you are midway into the 3rd quarter and your RBs have only touched the ball 6 times and your QB has touched it 15 times against UT Chattanooga. There is a MAJOR issue.

Na, it was a glorified scrimmage. Kiffin was trying different things to put Jalen in different situations. Chalk it up as an uninspired, bad practice. Also, UTC is a good team, I don't care if you can't get over the fact that they are an fcs team. They played more physical on defense than pretty much anyone we played this year. That was easy to see if you watched the game last night.

People, our offense is what it is. Nothing is going to change over night. This is what we have going into the rest of the season. It's worked splendidly so far for us this year.

Here's the truth in CFB; you can win with a running QB who doesn't pass IF all the tools are around him and a fantastic defense.

Jalen can and does pass.

When Jalen gets uncomfortable he resorts to running where he is good for a fumble.

Most of his fumbles have been in the pocket.

This and he just needs to tuck it in tight when he runs. To many are not players trying to strip the ball but a helmet hitting on someone trying to tackle him. I believe the one last IIRC was that as well as he was trying to do a spin move escaping the pocket as it collapsed.

I agree ball security is an issue but fixable and our D covers up a lot of his mistakes with getting the ball back but more of a concern for me last night and a few other games is the pocket seemed to collapse on him to quick. Saban mentioned that our plays were slow developing but they were getting into the backfield all night long it seemed untouched.

Does black jersey's mean anything in practice?
Do you think QB is the most important position on the offense?

Whether it's play calling or Jalen not making decisions. He shouldn't have ran more than our RBs. I honestly believe Saban got tired of that shite mid 3rd quarter and forced the run.

Well good thing we didn't play Wofford, Villanova, San Jose, Jax St, and Stony Brook last night. Statistically they have a better defense than Chattanooga.

A month ago, he was 14 for 40 on deep balls. I'd argue that the past month has been fairly tough passing for Jalen due to competition, etc.

Like I said, you can win with a running QB.

Inside/outside of the pocket. It doesn't matter, it's a liability. It's just part of the game he will learn.

At the end of the day, Hurts can win the game for the Tide or he can be a pretty big liability for the team. Lane takes a big reward/big risk type approach with the offense. It is what it is. Hurts will get better but everyone wanting to crown him the best CFB player in the country can relax. I can definitely see him winning one before it is all said and done.
