One way to improve ball security with running backs is to make them practice with a heavy football.
What do you do with a QB?
What do you do with a QB?

I don't care how small his hands are. He carries then all in his hand away from his body. Instead of keeping the ball up while in the pocket he drops it below his chest level and it gets raked out. He is not improving this season but he is still our best if not only option. Having said that if Barnett had not crapped the bed and could have handled the pressure he would be the starter instead of having to rely on a true freshman who is a great athlete but an average QB with terrible ball security.

Barnett was never going to play, sorry to burst your bubble. He doesn't have the grit for this kind of competition. Hurts is just fine we are 11-0 lol. He has improved quite a bit, it will get better.

Boz if he doesn't develop the ability to read defenses for more than half the field and learn to quit giving the ball away on average twice a game, Auburn will beat Bamas arse much less what Michigan, Ohio State and Clemson will do to Bama.

He's a true freshman. He has a ton of time to learn what he doesn't know with his sophomore and junior years. Luckily we are talented enough to not need a bomb thrower. Michigan is super overrated lost to Iowa. Clemson had Pitt hang 44 on them, and OSU lost to Penn State. My point is, he has some issues, but he is plenty good to win.

Don't get me wrong I know he is our best option but I was at this game Saturday with my two boys and maybe I don't understand the read option but it wasn't just the throws which I've kind of accepted for the year, it's the keeping the ball instead of giving it to Harris who will run up the middle untouched. Instead he hangs into it and runs around the end. Chattanooga seemed to be all over it to. Like there was a tell of some sort they picked out on film. Outside of the second play from scrimmage where he stepped out of bounds they had his run plays sniffed out. Btw Jonah had a terrible game in pass protection against that number 93. He may be a good player but JW has handled every lineman thrown his way against much better competition. I was really hoping for a fine tuning of the offense on the way to beating Auburns tail but that's not what we saw in a very cold night in level U4 sectionPP. Damnnit was cold up there. Lol

Yeah, an average QB that is one of the best QBs in the nation as a true freshman.

Falk and Mayfield have been way more impressive to me than Watson, this year. They both have about ~71% completion. They both deserve trips to NYC.
If Watson is a gold standard. He still has a higher completion percentage than Hurts even with his 13 Ints (139 more attempts).
If Jalen progresses like he should he will be better than Watson. However, that hasn't happened yet.

I keep seeing people say things like this. Did he turn into a sophomore after like the 10th game or something? I must have missed that.
He is 3-4 games away from starting as a Soph. He is 11 games, spring practice, summer workouts and fall camp away from starting as a true fresh.
People say it because they want to see improvement. With that being said; he can do it if he focuses and does his job every day.

I can explain what is happening in this department. Lsu and Chat, are playing risk vs reward. It's the key on the qb no matter what game. Many teams do it against the read, sometimes it works. Hurts kept the ball a lot Sat for whatever reasons, what he saw, what the play call was etc. our offense looked weird to begin with. We had empty set qb draws for god sakes?

People keep saying stuff like this like this hasn't been an issue all year and we aren't 11-0.
Also, we aren't just 11-0. We are a barnstorming, assbeating 11-0. Post-Ole Miss our closest game was a 10-0 win which beat the VegasLine and in which the opposing team never threatened to score. We ran for 200+ yards and had 323 yards of total offense.
FYI - here are our non-OT yardage and point totals in 2010, 2012 and 2014 trips to Baton Rouge (against worse LSU defenses).
2010 - 325 yards (21 pts)
2012 - 331 yards (21 pts)
2014 - 290 yards (13 pts)
2016 - 323 yards (10 pts)

Please don't use a Leach QB in your argument. When has his system failed to produce high completions and big numbers?
Posted on 11/22/16 at 8:25 am to Bham Bammer
Don't use a Leach system QB? What do you think Jalen is? He is a system QB right now. Jalen is in an offense that allows high completions and big yards. Remember all the WR screens? Shuffle passes. At times, Hurts has thrown balls behind the LOS and ArDarius has taken them to the house.

He is a Freshman QB, it is what it is, I am sure they are working on it but he has done fine for us this year. Definitely hope he continues to improve and the game plans in the big games are clearly different than this past week where we are trying to work on stuff, which is good IMO.
What other options do we have?

Quite a few bama fans here think Barnett may still come back through the door.

He has also thrown multiple deep ball TDs too, including one last week.

He has promise and has definitely won some games for us this year, but damn, I'd like him to show some emotion.

For the life of me, I can't figure out how Bama fans are overlooking this nugget. Had Bama covered an onside kick against OM, they wouldn't have a single win of less than 10 points thus far this year.
They aren't just beating folks. They aren't just beating folks comfortably. They're raping and pillaging.
