Possibility of Chubb returning

It appears he has lost his burst, and security has been an issue with three fumbles in his last three games. I could see someone taking a flyer in the late rounds, but if he could get his speed and security back, he has first round talent. Of course he could get hurt and lose the opportunity to play in the league. I'm just thinking out loud here, but I think there is a strong case for him to return

Its not his burst, its his give a damn that he has lost.

He will be a 2nd or 3rd round pick in the 2017 draft. It's possible he could have played himself into the 1st round this year but a combination of his own play and piss poor offensive line play will prevent that from happening.
We will be fine with Herrien and Holyfield.

Holyfield is still a mystery to me- haven't seen a lot out of him. Kirby needs to work him into the rotation for the end of the season. During the preseason he was getting a lot of praise- need to see that translate on the field.... In a game

I think Holyfield not getting any reps is a product of Herrien's early season success (while Holyfield was hurt) and the fact we haven't blown anyone out. Chubb and Michel need their reps and Herrien has played his way into the 3rd string RB position. Holyfield will be a good one, just hasn't had the opportunity yet.

What do you base that on?

I'd say wait another year if I'm him. Increase your draft stock by showing out. Otherwise you roll the dice on old guys looking to roll the dice...
Think of it this way...
It's like taking the drive train out of a muscle car and trying to sell it at full price.
There are other muscle cars that can drive, off the lot, right to the race track.
Which car would you buy first?

He plays the position with the shortest shelf life in the NFL

and I don't blame him.
RB's have the shortest shelf life in the NFL. The boy has already been injured once, Its best for him and his career to go now.
UGA will be fine with or without Chubb and imo he earned his leave by picking up when Gurley got benched a few years ago.
DGD through and through and hope he tears it up in the NFL.

Feel the same. TBH, I think we will miss Michel more than Chubb since Nick seems to have lost some dynamics since his injury. Herrien looks to have potential to be a replacement for Michel but I am less certain about who can replace Chubb as our power back.

Which is why I would try to maximize my potential earnings right out the gate.
Look at the difference between 1st and 3rd round payout.

Nowhere near the difference it used to be, especially once you get outside the top 15 or so picks. Chubb isn't likely to play himself into 1st round even if he stays another year and all it would do is take an extra year off of his NFL career.

He won't be back. I am as sure of that as I am about any other player on the team. His speed was always going to take longer to get back. Ball security? You would think that raises a bit of a red flag.
He should have his speed back by the time the combine rolls around and that should reassure any teams with doubts.

All of this. He should go, and no one should blame him. A 6 year career is a hell of a lot better than a 5 year career.

This. There is really no reason for him to come back and risk injury again. I think he'll be back to his former self by next year and will get paid.
I wish him and Sony the best at the next level, can't wait to see what they can do in the NFL. Both are DGDs!
I think we'll be fine at RB with Herrien, Holyfield, Carter, and Swift. It's the OL I'm still concerned about, but if they have a pulse at all next year, we'll be fine.
