Lock is fricking frustrating.
The defense looked better but still gave up over 400 yards.
3 or 4 turnovers.
Still competitive.
Weird decisions from Odom like a first year coach.
We still lose.

Caught the second half, looked like last year. Defense on the field too much, offense not effective at all. Heupal looks like he is tired of working with Lock. Commentators kept stressing how he won't look at the whole field, and they were right.

32 rushing attempts vs that defense was at least 10 to few.

I agree there.
I don't think we had a handoff to the RB in the first quarter.

I have no clue if his reading half the field is by design or is Lock's own failing, but I'm ready to see Marvin Zanders get some extended playing time. What is Lock as a starter in conference play now? It's time.
Either Zanders can operate the whole offense (including pass plays) or it's time for him to change positions.

It's by design. If Ware spent as much time talking to our coaches as he did sucking off Bentley, he'd know that.

Sometimes it is, but they accurately pointed out him missing Moore wide open on the pick he threw. That being said, Mason was open as well he just made a really bad throw. If that ball is deeper and to the outside is probably a TD and we have a very good chance to win the game at that point.
I'd say overall we made some progress. Still not good enough to overcome sloppy play though. If we don't have those two turnovers we likely we win. But we did, and we didn't.

The announcer said Mizzou made it to the SC 30 3 times in the 4th quarter but scored no points.
From watching on tv it looked like there was nothing but green between the hash marks from the line of scrimmage to 15 yards downfield on some pass plays.
When our defense does that the other team seems to find a big gain somehow from a tight end or rb or wr going over the middle. Not us though.

Apathetic at this point.

I get the design of reading half the field, but not even trying to look off the safeties makes it hard to get wrs open unless he throws constantly to the edges.

At the very least he's a dangerous runner.

Or someone breaking off a route that is saturated with defenders and hauling arse over the middle where there are no defenders.
I won't be able to look at what Jeremy Sprinkle has in store for us.

I think you've been apathetic for a long while.
I get it. The team needs to get some wins. Simply playing a little better doesn't cut it. They had a very good oppurtunity to win this game and they didn't.
Numb to the results, but I'll be at the Vandy game. This team, and program, need to get the monkey of their backs in the worst way.

Sometimes one conference win can make all the difference in the world. Right now everyone involved with the program (players, fans, and coaches) feel a bit shell shocked with how the season has gone.
We were in the same spot a few years ago when we were mired in that long conference losing streak. Vandy plays solid defense but their offense is as bad as Florida's, maybe worse, so you don't need to put up a ton of points on them to win.

This is the worst tackling Mizzou team I have ever seen. They must not teach them to go for the legs; nor do they teach them appropriate team gang tackling. The lead tackler takes the legs out and the others hit them midwaist and high.
I hope our defense watched the Alabama/LSU game last night. There was excellent defense in that game; with good technique and discipline.

Sometimes your HC has to get on some people's arse to see improvements in things like tackling. Against Auburn two weeks ago, and for most of the season, we tackled for shite.
We tackled a lot better after Bert evidently spent two weeks being royally POed with the world. It might be time for Odom to personally get in people's business this week and tighten things up.

Nah. Been apathetic about hoops, but even that I find myself going into each season with hopes. I really thought, after UGA and the 2 non-con wins that we had a chance to still win 6 games. At this point, there is so much wrong I don't even know where you start. I'm becoming convinced that Mizzou is destined to be mediocre at best. Bottom line is, play like you did in the 80's and you will generate the same amount of interest as you had in the 80's.
I'll be at the Vandy game too for the record.

And an insane amount of talent that we don't have.
Alabama has a two deep on the DL that is likely NFL bound, behind that. Reuben Foster and several NFL DBs
LSU has a few NFL guys up front, probably the best 1-2 punch at LB in the country, and a DB corps filled with NFL types as well.
We've got a handful of guys that have NFL talent, but nothing like those squads.
Still, we should be better. Missing Scherer and Beckner is huge though. Newsome hurts. Garrett was in for a series. That's our starting LBS. I'd say the defense looked a little better yesterday. Got some pressure on the QB, made some plays behind the LOS. It's probably a work in progress switching scheme mid season, but looked a little better.

Not to mention that Hilton, our FS, who is always supposed to be the most consistent tackler, NEVER wraps up. That guy literally goes for the big hit every time. That's incredibly unsound FS play

One of the announcers said that Lock only scans 1/2 of the field so I started looking at him every time he dropped back and it's true. The pick that he threw on the ball intended for Mason, Moore was WIDE OPEN. Lock never even looked.
