Why is everyone so adamant about fall weddings ?

I guess I have hit that age where everyone is getting married ... I knew this time would come, and I can live with it, but why the hell is fall such a popular season for weddings?
I have been to three Saturday weddings so far this year, all three beginning after 3pm on a Saturday, and have two more to attend - one of which is November 5th at 5pm
Has anyone else experienced the pain of missing nearly half the college football season for such obligations?
I understand college football is not the be all end all, and I do appreciate the event when I am there, but why cant we do Sunday's? I don't watch the first eight weeks of the NFL anyway

Weddings are only an obligation for close family and friends. If you're not close to the person, they won't remember you being there or not in 5 years.
I only had a couple of fall weddings when I was at the age of all my friends getting hitched. One was when Alabama sucked in the early 00's, so I didn't care. The other was when Alabama had a bye. At both, they had TV's at the reception for those that wanted to watch games.
I think they've gotten more popular because the weather is nicer than it is in the summer, and with the leaves changing colors it makes for better pictures if they're being taken outside.

I dont understand fall weddings -- missed most of the Tennesee game bc some of my close barner friends wanted to get married on a bye week. oh well. As far as weather for weddings there is nothing better than march - may for me. Spring and the summer beginning to creep in. definitely my favorite time of the year.

Quite simply, depending on where you live, it's probably the most tolerable season to have a nice outdoor wedding.
And churches hold services on Sundays. Between Sunday School, multiple services, etc it's likely tough to schedule a ceremony.

I used to whine about it, but with a phone, you can watch any game anywhere you want. No football game is more important than close friends. My interest in college football is deep, but not everyone shares my interests. Why shouldn't I adapt for a once in a lifetime experience as opposed to a silly game? I remember in undergrad every guy would freak out about the hypothetical fall wedding. We were adamant that they were never happening. I'll be a best man for the second time this weekend for a fall wedding. I couldn't be happier. It's a beautiful time of year in Texas for a wedding.

Spring and Summer in the South are hot as balls, so no one wants to endure through that. In Winter you have to compete with people's Holiday schedules. So it's almost Fall by default. There's normally a week in early December where no meaningful games are played, so if you're getting married in the Fall and don't want football to interfer, aim for that week

Despite what your own experience may be, late Spring and Summer are still the peak season for weddings, overall.

Not the same thing but weddings are scheduled on purpose.
"A man had 50 yard line tickets for a LSU game.
As he sat down, he noticed that the seat next to him was empty.
He asked the man on the other side of the empty seat whether anyone was sitting there.
"No," the man replied, "The seat is empty."
"This is incredible," said the first man.
"Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the LSU game, the biggest sporting event in the state and not use it?"
The second man replied, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This will be the first LSU game we haven't attended together since we got married in 1967."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else -- a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?"

Complete disrespect for the invitees. An equally good question is why people attend Saturday weddings in the fall.

Obviously non-football fans. Real fans would plan their wedding on the bye week or on a Friday night during season.

Fall is the season of passing. Spring is the season of rebirth. Weddings should be in the Spring. Cause frick baseball.

Fall is one of only two brief periods in South Louisiana when the weather doesn't suck to be outside, and the spring can often be stormy.
However, football season is sacred around these here parts and a major time sink for anyone with hs-age kids. Scheduling a wedding in football season just shouldn't be done, but if it has to be, it should be during a rent-a-win game. Bye weeks have too much other crap jammed in.

Spring is rainy.
Summer is hot hot hot.
Fall is perfect weather.
Winter has many holidays you have to compete with.
I understand the Fall wedding, but that doesn't mean I like it.

Some of y'all are ridiculous.
If its a close friend/family member then I'm going, sports be damned. I don't expect them to accommodate my schedule for their big day. Just as I wouldn't hold it against them if they're unable to attend my wedding.
But not even sending a gift?

I had a beach Wedding the day of the LSU game. We all drank beer and watched the 1st Quarter in the beach house while the bride was getting ready. Everyone walked down we had the ceremony then came back in changed watched a little more, then went to our reservations and watched the whole 4th Quarter. Which was a great end to my wedding day

Anybody who schedules a fall wedding after august is an a-hole.
