Common knowledge = rumor. Nice job with your facts. If Gay goes somewhere else he goes. He will do what's best for himself. I want him to go to MSU and will be disappointed if he doesn't but in the end I won't lose any sleep over it. There's things I enjoy much more in life than worrying about where a kid goes to college.

Baton rouge has better food.

New Orleans has good food. Baton Rouge is a shithole. It's just a bigger version of Jackson.

You've never been to BR, have you.

And that gives you the ability to compare it to the cultural wasteland known as Jackson,MS?

Idk where you get this but Baton Rouge is far from a shite hole. I love Baton Rouge and so do a lot of other people. It's better than Starkville I know that much. Only been to Starkville once though so I'll admit that I haven't seen all it has to offer. Still pretty sure Baton Rouge is a way better city in terms of pretty much everything.

Baton Rouge really can't be compared to college towns. It compares to Jackson fairly well.

It really doesn't. Not in the slightest. Culturally it's head and shoulders above Jackson.
The only things they have in common are
1. They are cities.
2. They are the capital city of their state.
That's it

This thread is pure gold.

Most of the people that call BR a shithole have never been or only passed through on the interstate.

You probably think Memphis is a Mecca as well

The murder rate in Baton Rouge for 2011 was the 8th highest in the nation among large cities at 27.6 per 100,000. Baton Rouge also had the 25th highest violent crime rate in the U.S. in 2011 with a rate of 1,065.7 violent crimes per 100,000, surpassing New Orleans at 792 per 100,000.

Do they still have that Fred's golf tournament at the LSU golf course? I played it a couple of times. Was always interesting teeing off with a bunch of folks sitting in the bleachers at Fred's yelling at you. Good stuff.

This just in, many larger cities have bad areas in them. You act like people are getting popped on campus left and right

I'm not sending my future kids to Baton Rouge unless the surrounding area is gutted and the less desirables are gone

Why not update us with some more up to date information instead of something over a half decade old...

Worked in Baton Rouge for a year. Place is an absolute shithole, and outside of some of the people I met there, it was the worst place I could imagine living.
Big city traffic with big city crime that comes with little to no entertainment that doesn't involve LSU sports or getting belligerent drunk.
