This whole idea around here that LSU is incapable of hiring a great coach...

I know most of it is trolling, but some of it is serious. Many in the SEC are trying to believe this narrative that LSU can't and won't hire a good coach.
Ignore the fact that LSU hired Nick Saban, arguably the greatest coach in the history of college football.
Ignore the fact that the guy everyone is claiming LSU is dumb for firing, you know that guy Les Miles? Well LSU actually hired him at some point.
Both were drastically different situations, but produced similar results. If you look at the facts, LSU can make an argument for making possibly the best back to back coaching hires ever in college football.
Don't let any facts get in the way.

Well you do know Aleva is making the hire right? I believe there is a chance though we can make a home run hire.

LSU has only had two different coaches in 16 years, meanwhile the rest of the SEC...

Your efforts will be futile. Worth a shot though.

It's more due the fact that there aren't a lot of great coaches out there. It is what it is.

I know this will turn into a shitshow soon on here, but sometimes I can't help myself to at least provide some logic.

firing a coach 4 games into the season can't help

Can't hurt either

Well threatening to fire your coach at the end of the last season and then not pulling the trigger until 4 games into the next season seems to indicate incompetence in these type of decisions

Ignore the fact that Saban was not the greatest coach in the history of college football at that time. Ignore the fact that Michigan St is one of the few jobs that LSU is actually a step above for coaches. Saban going to Michigan St was like when Urban Meyer went from Bowling Green to Utah

It isn't that LSU isn't capable of hiring a great coach. We question if a great coach would come there unless they give him complete control of the football program. Brando stated that the rich LSU boosters have started meddling too much.I am saying all LSU has to do is convince one of the big names that their alumn won't interfere.

The AD that hired Miles and Saban is long gone. The current AD is a moron and LSU fans will admit that depending on what day it is.
It's not like LSU is this person who lives forever. It is run by people who are replaced over time.

Happens in big boy football when programs aren't satisfied with mediocrity.

At the time, the average fan did not quickly come to that conclusion like they do now. Saban saw potential in LSU at the time and was able to maximize it.

So why is it that UF, Michigan, USC, Texas, etc hire crappy coaches the majority of times they have a vacancy?

If you were being rational for two seconds you could see how it might hurt the current recuiting class.
Welcome to being a dumbass.

Sure we didn't know it at the time, but does it mean nothing to realize potential?
