Does anyone else feel like this game could determine the season?

Remember when we played LSU close but eventually lost in '12, and it really went downhill from there?

I have the same feeling for this game. If we win, it could give us some momentum to beat teams we should beat (MSU, Arky, Vandy). But a loss could really spell disaster for the remainder of the season.

Anyone feel that there is a lot that hinges on this game in terms of season momentum? We can win, but if they coaches mess it up again, the team could begin to lose faith.

edit: add UGA to the teams be should beat too

Yeah I agree, UGA looks like a game we should win to at this point

Every team is different and won't react the same way

Before the season I thought there were 4 swing games that Gus must go at least 3-1 on to have a solid season. Then there were 4 I marked as most likely losses but 1-3 record would be good enough so basically resulting in an 8-4 season

Swing games: A&M, State, ARK, UGA
Toughest games: CLEM, LSU, OM, BAMA

He is 0-1 in both of those categories. LSU is the most winnable of that 2nd category. Given the fact that he has already dropped a swing game, he doesn't win this one & 7-5 becomes his ceiling.

This is really last shot Gus has for a few weeks at rallying the fanbase. Mississippi State & ULM are games he absolutely has to win but even if he does no one is overly excited about it because we are supposed to win those. Then there's a bye before Arkansas so basically 3 weeks before he plays a team that would get people excited about winning. Beat LSU tonight & good chance we face Arkansas coming off a bye at home with a 4-2 record & people feeling positive. Drop this one and at best you are 3-3 with no one really thinking much has changed

Would anyone be "excited" about beating Arkansas?

Big games are LSU, UGA, and Bama.

I said last week I was done with the season, but I'm also a masochistic optimist, and I think you've given me a little hope for the season again damn you. But at the same time 8-4 is acceptable this season but it can't be the mean.

It most definitely determines the season. AU controls their own destiny still, a loss today though, zero chance of anything meaningful for the season.

If we get a win and get our offense clicking this game it could really turn our season around. If our O comes out flat again it will be a very long year. I still have hope, but a lot of that hope hinges on how our O looks today.

We will lose out, screw around, and hire Mike Bobo.

Yeah, if AU loses today, I'll probably just stop caring the rest of the year and spend my Saturdays doing something else.

I hate to admit it, but a small part of me is hoping we lose so we can fire Gus.

That's sad. But I don't doubt you actually believe that.

I see improvement in areas of the team, so it's not all bad. If Gus can keep the team playing hard and entertains an outside offensive influence (such as Briles), I have no problem with Gus staying. But a lot rides on today's game. Starting 1-3 with the talent on roster won't cut it.

I was pretty excited last year when I thought we were going to beat them.

That was the turnaround game for us last year. I can't imagine how much confidence we would have had if we'd come from behind on the road against a SR QB having the best game of his career. We win that (and Sean doesn't get hurt in the process), we almost certainly beat UGa and finish no worse than 8-4, with a decidedly better outlook for 2016.

Tl;dr beating them this year might not be exciting, but losing to them will royally piss me off.
