For a defensive coach he's not afraid to turn the offense loose. I like it.

I like it too. It was EMU, but that offense was good to see.
Now he needs to fix his defense.

Pinks would have hit the brakes in the third quarter and allowed this to become a closer game. Glad to see Odom open up the whole six pack of whoop arse. Our offense needed the work.

Letting them go all out, and learn what that feels like, get that rhythm - they needed that. I loved the way they spread the ball around. Curious as to why we didn't see Black and Moore more, but we didn't need them. Johnson and Wingo were pleasant surprises. This was a huge confidence builder for Heupel's O.

That's exactly what we were saying in the third quarter.

Now can we see Strong run the damn ball during meaningful minutes?

I thought the same thing watching it last night.
The biggest mistake defensive-side HCs make as a head coach is they bring a conservative mindset to their own offense. They know what turnovers and 3-and-outs can do to a defense so their offensive philosophy becomes fear-based. Muschamp's a classic example. It's what got Tony Dungy fired in the pros.
The great ones like Bill Belichick separate the two and let the offense play.
That Odom is willing to unleash the hounds is a mark of intelligence and possible future greatness.

I wonder how long the defensive coach is going to allow the teeth to be taken out of the defense? I get the philosophy change. The "read on the run" defensive line technique that Kul taught (used first by Jimmy Johnson at OKstate) has holes in it that can be exploited but part of coaching is figuring out what your guys do best and putting them in a situation to do it. The front seven lacks consistency against anything and it really exposes the WLB. Again tonight, the big gains on the ground were right at Burkett. Chubb hitting the second level untouched is going to be big issue if Shipp and Cross don't figure out how to keep the OGs occupied.

We did & I'm more confident with the ball in his hands than Crockett's. The ball doesn't seem very secure in Crockett's hands.

It was good to see some of these other WRs we have been reading about for a year or 2 now get their chance.
Did not mind seeing Mr. 8-of-24 Moore sitting at all.
Good to see some talk less catch more guys get the reps.

Exactly; Jmon Moore was targeted 23 times against WV, and caught 8, and dropped 3 and could have caught a couple more. Then he ran his mouth a lot after the game; even though we were lucky to score 11 against WV. I am not ... surprised ... other less-known receivers had the ball thrown their way Saturday... Excellent results too.
