Johnson will back up Jameill Showers, who will likely play the entire duration of Thursday's contest.

Is this a marketing thing? It certainly has my Cowboy fandom levels rising.

Another article I read said they're likely just bringing him in for the final pre-season game to make sure Dak doesn't have to play. He may have a shot at practice squad.

I don't follow the Cowboys too much, so I didn't realize Showers was on the squad.

I'd love to see him make it with the Cowboys. He's obviously a very smart guy. Whether he plays a down or not for the 'boys he'll definitely be a good coach someday.

He's already gotten some high school coaching in here in Houston. I'm sure that's the longterm track.

Haha yeah neither did I. If only McGee was still around.

Good for Jameill getting to start the game! He did get his degree at A&M so I consider him to be an Aggie. At one point I thought he made a mistake not waiting for JFF to leave but I am glad it worked out for him!

I always thought he got his disease via osmosis from Mike Sherman?

He suffered from Mike Sherman leaving him in too long when he was clearly banged up and slowed down. Guess he thought Tannehill's amazing foot speed made him more valuable as a slot receiver than a backup QB when JJ needed to come out.

One day, at some point, I dream we will get a coach that won't mishandle QBs and it will be amazing.

Actually when I think about it Texas has done a worse job with the position than us, which is amazing when you think about it. The two flagship schools of the best state for high school QBs can't manage them properly to save their lives.

Maybe it's like peanut butter allergies in kids where it's obvious some new stimuli (starting around the time of JJ and Gilbert) is causing the problem but we don't know what that is.
