A squealing pet pig with a pickax in its back was running for its life Wednesday as a man with a rifle chased it through Kings Park. Men putting in a new sunroom in the east Macon-Bibb County neighborhood were first alarmed by gunshots, then the sight and sounds of the wounded animal.

If you've never killed a pig before the first time can get very messy

Not if you have a firearm. But..we usually took our pigs and cows to a slaughter house in Oneonta, Al. Never forget when I was about 8 or so.. they ran a bull through the chutes and a black guy looked up at me, smiled and pulled out a .22 with an 8" barrel and dropped it with a single shot to the back of the skull. It was the first time I saw something like that and it stuck with me.
And at this very moment... I am enjoying the hell out of a perfectly grilled sirloin.

csb to follow:
was camping in central Florida about 30 years ago with some friends and family. Hear a blood curdling scream come through the woods from a neighboring camp site. Grabbed .357 and went to check it out. Found a bunch of hippies trying to dispatch a pig by slitting its throat with a Buck knife. Pig was having none of it. The hippies asked if I could assist. I dropped the poor critter with a shot to the base of the skull.
They came by later with some under cooked pork......we passed. I'm sure those hippies were shitting liquid for a month.

That didn't kill it, just stunned it. And usually it's a shot or captive bolt to the the forehead, just above the eyes.
You cut an artery and bleed the animal out while it's still unconcious to actually kill it.

let's be real. it's gonna die anyway does it really matter? does the bacon taste any different depending on how you kill it?
