Why is Kentucky in the SEC?

Yeah I know basketball......
Other than that why is this school in the SEC? It really is the biggest shite hole.....more hillbilly than 10erC, more mid-west than Mizzou, academics on par with the Mississippi schools.....half their students are losers who couldn't get into Ohio State...it's a terrible place....spare the crap about bourbon and horse racing....outside of basketball Kentucky has no redeeming value.

SEC West teams have easy conference games like Arky, Ole Miss, and Miss St.

They were a founding member of the conference. It's hard to get rid of founding members unless they leave of their own volition like Sewanee, Tulane, and Georgia Tech.
