Why would he want to follow Saban? He pretty much can write his ticket at CU.
Simple. He grew up in Alabama as a Tide fan, played at The University of Alabama and in fact was on one of the many national championship teams. Speaking of which, even though it's SEC, it's easier to recruit to UA than to Clemson and it's pretty obvious that it's easier to win national titles at Alabama than Clemson, or any other southern team for that matter.

David Shaw > Dabo
I like Shaw a lot, but his play calling is a bit stubborn at time. That being said, he's done a great job at Stanford and I would love his offense at Bama.

David Shaw calling Bama kids dumb probably ended any chance he had .
Dabo is the first choice IMO.

quote:Exactly. Plus he has history against him. Any coach following a legendary coach at Bama has been average at best.
This. You don't wanna be the guy after the guy.

Shaw didn't say that. He basically said Stanford is a tougher institution to get into than others. Finebaum is the idiot who tried to make everyone seem like said that.

Hasn't Auburn been on probation more than Alabama?

I think you guys should get Rich Rodriguez.

It's only "easier" if you have Bear or a Saban as your HC.You've had plenty that didn't.(I know about Stallings)
He's recruiting fine at Clemson.
Sorry, there would be nothing "simple" or easy about following Saban.Don'the care where he played CFB or who he grew up rooting for.

Not really

Neither Shula nor Dubose had any business winning 10 games in a season, much less winning an SEC championship.
We've only had one coach that didn't win 10 games in a season since the 1910's.

Who would you rather have that Alabama could realistically get?

Wallace Wade and Frank Thomas also won multiple national titles at Alabama(and for the record, I don't count 1941). Heck, even Bill Curry and Mike DuBose won SEC titles at Alabama. That "tradition" that Auburn fans used to like to mock? Well, that's the sort of thing that draws coaches like St. Nick Saban. Course, as previously noted, Swinney has even more reason to return to Alabama. Several reasons. Kind of like Kirby Smart to UGA... except with a national title and SEC titles in addition to growing up and playing there.

I don't know. Haven't paid much attention nationally the last few years. I just know I don't like Dabo.

A couple of years ago, I would have said no, but I've changed my mind.
In the last 5 years, he's won 56 games, won the ACC twice, won bowl games in each of the last 4 seasons, and was within one score of a NC.
I can only think of one coach who's done better in that time frame, so yeah. I'd take him.

Sorry a completely different era that doesn't have much to do with what's going on today.Minnesota,Princton,Army and even GT had multiple NC claims back then.

Kinda like Kirby at UGA
Maybe if KS was HC at a P5 school and won a couple of conference titles and played for a NC but otherwise not even close.

Dabo is good... loves Bama.
Kiffin is in a good position if he stays OC for 3 more years. He carries a lot of baggage, but he is learning from the best
