Trevor Lawrence down to 2

I think Tennessee has honed in on Emory Jones.

Emory is a beast in his own right. It's going to be tough to beat out OSU though.

I'd agree with this, but he's even athletic enough to fit into the existing system more or less. May not be dialing a lot of called QB runs, but he throws well enough on the move and has the get up and go to make defenses pay if they leave him uncovered on a roll out.

More accurately, UT found they were probably going to be 3rd or 4th and shifted gears toward the next best available for them. Emory is probably a little underrated, while not the top passer, he is an elite athlete and could very easily fit the Dobbs type role (maybe a slightly better passer?) UT could do a lot worse.

They would have taken him in a heartbeat. No one would turn down the number 1 QB in the land. I do believe they honed in on Jones based on a feeling that they were 3rd and Trevor Lawrence probably relayed that info. Jones is not even a lock for UT as OSU is a player here as well.

I agree, but Lawrence isn't wanting to play in a zone read offense, I don't blame him for looking elsewhere.

Lol, no. You were beaten out for Lawrence so now you've moved on to Jones. Emory is a damn good QB, but Lawrence is such a superior project, regardless of system.

He's gonna go to UGA. It's interesting that I think he's the best QB prospect since Deshaun Watson, and his recruitment will basically be the exact opposite of Deshaun's. Deshaun liked UGA's staff best and would have stayed home but he liked Clemson's offense better. Lawrence likes Dabo best and has a better relationship with the Clemson staff (likely in part to the longevity relative to Smart's new time as UGA's coach), but he likes UGA's offense better.

Sucks because he's gonna be incredible. I just hope Hunter is somewhat close to what he'll be.

Hunter's numbers last year make me hesitant to label him so high. But that's obviously just me
