Will never understand the obsession Alabama fans (and others to be fair) have with recruiting rankings.

As if Alabama needs such as evidence of their recent prowess. As if the "ratings" are not at least somewhat based on who has the most subs and who gets offered my x-coach.

There is a reason for the "Bama Bump." Those people at Rivals, scout, 24/7 are not actually qualified scouts. "Saban and Meyer offered this kid? He might be a bit better than we thought, let's bump him up the rankings a bit. Plus, it will help create conversation among our lemming subs."

Obviously, there is a correlation between top recruiting classes and future success, but it's just a correlation. At the INDIVIDUAL LEVEL, these "stars" don't matter a hill of beans.

Some future 1st Round pick signed with Central Florida, South Florida, or FAU back in Febraury...and went completely unnoticed by Miami, Florida, FSU, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, etc. While Alabama signed some 5-star that will not see the field. The coaches are not perfect themselves.

But again, do not understand the basis for 'Bama fans bragging about this shite.

Why not just post a graph of where we have finished in the season in the REAL Rankings? It's just as impressive and it actually matters.

This is why the argument that Saban ought not ever lose a game has some credence. During the dynasties/successful runs of the past (USC, Florida State, Miami etc.) those programs were bringing in Top 5 classes every year, but never has a program brought in the #1 most talented class every single year for close to a decade. That's why every time Bama drops a game, you hear folks criticize and ask how is that possible?

While its impossible to never lose a game, this graph really does beg the question why Saban can't ever seem to put together an undefeated season? Six straight seasons with at least one loss... averaging 1.7 losses per year. If Bama's talent gap is as massive as the graph you just posted, why is Bama losing nearly twice a year on average?

Bama has not taken the field one single time in six years in which the opponent has nearly as talented of a roster. Why the 10 losses?

This is not a criticism, its just in my opinion a legitimate question worth considering.

Because the other teams are trying to win, too. That's why they actually play games not just look at who has the most talented roster.

And any person (Bama or not) who expects to never lose is a damn fool.
