Hogs' best 2 signees are likely gone. Gonna get $1.5M and $900K+ signing bonuses.
I'm and old stick in the mud. I prefer sports to work similar to the real world.
Go to college, hone your craft/trade for 3 years, if you're a top candidate go early after Jr. year and make your money. The hit rate on baseball draftees is pretty low, the tens of millions wasted on signing bonuses for guys that don't pan out add to the cost of tickets and increase the value of guys in the majors to astronomical levels which also effect ticket, parking, concession and merchandise prices.
I literally didn't recognize a single name in the first round of the draft. Of course I don't follow like I used to, but a couple years of high profile college call can only help build your name and star power.
I'd like to see better college baseball and it's impossible for colleges to compete against MLB money when they only get 11.3 scholarships to divide among an entire team and MLB can offer $500K out the gate to a 6th round pick.

we enjoy our 2 game rest up in Hoover. Be glad when the tourney is rightfully moved to Memphis

Why did your AD vote to keep it in Hoover?

Cooper Johnson and Grae Kessinger likely to get drafted soon, but into the fifth round and we haven't had anyone from our top ten signing class taken. Maybe we will get some of our top guys on campus the year.

Well the BaseVols have had another player taken in the first round in back to back years.

Vandy had two commits taken in the top 7 picks:
Ian Anderson - #3 (Braves)
Braxton Garrett - #7 (Marlins)
Also, Jason Groome, who was a Vandy commit until Monday, went #12 (Red Sox).

Ouch, losing 3 of the top 12 picks from a class. Could've been a nasty team there.

Christin Stewart - 27th last year
Nick Senzel - 2nd this this year
Follows up several other Vol great first rounders such as Conredge Holloway (#4 overall), Todd Helton (#8 overall), RA Dickey #8 overall, Chris Burke #10 overall, as well as other supplemental first rounders Wyatt Allen, Luke Hochevar, Julio Borbon and Eli Iorg.

Hey man JLo does his own thing. He's completely cucked to the offices in Birmingham.

Holloway could have been a star if he pursued baseball after college instead of football.

So far, Georgia hasn't had any of our class drafted. This is good for us. We had a few at risk but I feel like they will all stick with us because the money just isn't very good after the 5th round.

We had an infielder, Hudson Sanchez, go to SD in Round 1.
Biggest surprise of first round? Texas A&M signee Hudson Sanchez of Southlake Carroll drafted in 1st round of MLB draft

Oh and FYI,
Matt Cronin hasn't been drafted and he's going to be a good one for you guys. I know him and his family personally. You will like this kid.

Mississippi State just had a kid drafted. Walker Robbins. His status could be up in the air.

I think Auburn has remained unscathed so far
Edit: Speas got taken 63rd overall. He gone
Edit2: Balazovic selected in the 5th just a few minutes ago. He gone

I knew Rortvedt wouldn't make it. Was 50/50 on Stobbe but with him going so high he probably won't either. As long as none of the others go in the top 10 rounds I feel good about getting the rest though. Still would be a very good class.

The thing about baseball - particularly pitchers - is that we are learning, generally speaking, an arm has a set number of pitches in it. A top pitching prospect like Riley Pint who is hitting 100mph as an 18 year old is probably better spent going straight into a minor league system, getting his pitches in, and getting to the big leagues with the fewest number of pitches on that arm as possible. Unlike the other sports, baseball has the minor leagues that provide the ideal environment to hone their craft. If a kid goes to college for 3 years and puts all those throws on that arm there, and then is drafted after his junior year, and then starts out in the minors, he's got that many more throws on his arm before he hits the bigs.
