I love you both equally. I bought some Metamucil and geritol at the store this morning just because I was thinking about you both!

Very fitting for a Baylor thread.
I just want to point out Baylor still hosts that image despite taking back that honorary degree. Let him who is without rape accusations among you be the first to throw a stone I guess.

The Sips, TCU, and OU coaching staffs are aggressively pursuing Parrish Cobb.
The Sips are also pursuing Patrick Hudson.

Wonder how this is going to go.

Jim Harbaugh will probably still show. Not sure who will be there for Baylor. They are losing some additional coaches, but they won't disclose who until the 2016 class shows up to campus.

I can make fun of regular Baylor fans for being homers but I can't really shite on Briles' daughter for taking his side
I can understand defending your father, what I find hilarious is her ripping into the school that her husband and brother are still currently employed at. Pretty awkward next time she has to go to the school for something, unless the husband and brother are also getting fired soon, which I could see.

Baylor naming Jim Grobe as interim. He did some good things at Wake but eventually was fired. He's 64 and hasn't coached in 3 years.

Not a horrible decision under the present circumstances.
I just want to know if some of those offensive players are looking to transfer

yeah, it makes a lot of sense. They need someone from the outside as the voice because he can just talk about football since he has no knowledge of history. And he's pretty well respected as an individual
Also current staff members may end up fired or gone. Grobe can just no comment the frick out of things when that happens

I'm sure the players are at a very weird spot not knowing if their position coach is staying, who the head coach will be long term, what system they will run, etc. Some people have stated (maybe cynical) that several position coaches will be gone Friday after the 2016 class enrolls.
In the end, I'm sure a few guys will transfer but I doubt it's open season on their roster

The scuttlebutt right now is that Baylor is fighting an internal battle with many trying to contort this thing to allow for Briles to be suspended for a year and come back in 2017.
It sounds absurd, but I admit there isn't much explanation for why Kendall Briles is being retained, Grobe was hired and Briles hasn't been fired yet. His termination hasn't even been brought up for an official vote yet much less approved.
It's very odd

Not sure I've ever heard of a school hiring an interim head coach. With every firing I can remember, they gave that title to the most experienced assistant until the school could conduct a more thorough search.
Grobe is solid though. He grew Wake from total dumpster fire to intermittently respectable, and he did so without any of Briles' transfer oversights or actively encouraging a perpetually angry, win-at-all-costs culture.

Jarret Stidham and KD Cannon announced they are staying. I don't really have any interest in any of the other kids from BU.
Jim Turner wasn't here last year, so he might he might be interested in JP or Hudson.

I've been hesitant to get into this because we really don't know many facts. But just based on the summary report, I have serious doubt Briles will ever coach again at any level. As long as potential charges hang over him, he's unemployable.
Obstruction carries a high burden but witness tampering doesn't really. And a witness can be deemed a witness prior to charges filed. Coercing someone not to proceed, report, or otherwise come forward with evidence of a crime is witness tampering and extremely serious. If the criminal charge is a felony, the corresponding charge of tampering is a first degree felony.
From the PH summary report:
The details here are still to come but this sounds like potential tampering. PH masked a bunch of it in Title IX responsibilities but these are potential crimes (and we can assume the retaliation is SU so has been deemed criminal in a court of law). It really depends on what was said/done and what was documented and what may come out in future criminal trials, lawsuits, and the all but certain Title IX investigation.
Until every bit of this is cleaned up - and that likely will take years - Briles is completely radioactive.
Even if some folks at Baylor 100% plan on one-year suspension, I don't think it's going to be possible because this will drag out forever and they'll eventually realize the best thing for them is to completely divorce themselves from this era.

From the PH summary report:
quote:
Pepper also found examples of actions by 2 University administrators that directly discouraged complainants from reporting or participating in student conduct processes, or that contributed to or accommodated a hostile environment. In one instance, those actions constituted retaliation against a complainant for reporting sexual assault.
quote:
Football staff conducted their own untrained internal inquiries, outside of policy, which improperly discredited complainants and denied them the right to a fair, impartial and informed investigation, interim measures or processes promised under University policy. In some cases, internal steps gave the illusion of responsiveness to complainants but failed to provide a meaningful institutional response under Title IX.
quote:
The choices made by football staff and athletics leadership, in some instances, posed a risk to campus safety and the integrity of the University. In certain instances, including reports of a sexual assault by multiple football players, athletics and football personnel affirmatively chose not to report sexual violence and dating violence to an appropriate administrator outside of athletics. In those instances, football coaches or staff met directly with a complainant and/or a parent of a complainant and did not report the misconduct. As a result, no action was taken to support complainants, fairly and impartially evaluate the conduct under Title IX, address identified cultural concerns within the football program, or protect campus safety once aware of a potential pattern of sexual violence by multiple football players.

The odds of Briles facing criminal charges are so low I don't think it really warrants discussion. There are so many routes for a competant defense attorney to take I doubt anyone would bother trying.
