Not sure why stating a fact means he isn't hopeful though

What's he saying?
Said we haven't missed them as much yet, but we will in conference because we will have a big size disadvantage to most everyone. Just sounded like he anticipated missing them throughout conference play.

I know a lot of people were upset last year with stupid fouls by Brown + Horace on defense. Both guys have improved their fouls/40min rate while playing much improved D

The university should give an update on the situation concerning Wiley and Purifoy. The season is half over.

All they'd say is

"We are still working ahard with the NCAA to ensure compliance and have not reached a final decision"

Or some BS like that. There is no update, no decision has been made and I doubt we know if any real progress towards NCAA decision has been made

Wiley will never play another game at Auburn. If he was going to be back, he would be back. Such a waste. Hate it for the kid.

Bruce is rocking this shirt today during warmups

Apparently someone predicted us to go 4-14 in the SEC before the season

Why Georgetown, Auburn and 5 more hot college hoops teams are set up to stumble

quote:

3. AUBURN Current record: 11-1
Projected regular-season record: 16-15

Even amid an FBI probe that seemingly had thrust coach Bruce Pearl onto the hot seat, the Tigers are off to an incredible 11-1 start. However, Auburn's non-conference strength of schedule which ranks 199 could prove to be fool's gold, too.

The Tigers' biggest win to date is over a solid Middle Tennessee team on a neutral, but they also lost to Temple in their toughest test of the season thus far - a team that will be a borderline NCAA Tournament team.

With no Austin Wiley or Danjel Purifoy now or for the foreseeable future, quality depth is also a concern and it could give the Tigers fits in the heart of their SEC slate.

Since that article, his projection looks good on W/L results but many of those losses were often much more competitive than his article would suggest

Georgetown- 2OT L to Butler, L to Marquette 9pts
Okie St - L #6 WVU 6pts
FSU - L #2 Duke 7pts **Held led w/ 1-2min left
Iowa St- L Texas OT, L KSt blowout

You're good. Just providing the reference so people realize this lack of respect is current and based on current resume and not old preseason "FBI + No Wiley/Purifoy" conjecture

Isn't it ironic that our defense and ft shooting improves after we fire Person.

I haven't really thought about that. Who coaches defense now? Maybe Steven Pearl wasn't the weak link we thought he was.

Bruce said on his summer tour of alumni functions that he was going to coach the defense this season and he guaranteed improvement (couldn't get much worse). Not sure if that is true, but he was selling that all summer.

Just looking over team rankings this morning and last night's win moved us a decent amount in their projections.

Projected to win 23 regular season games and get a 5 seed. 75% chance to make the tournament.
Only an underdog in 4 remaining games. Essentially a coin flip in 6 others. Favored in 7.

Up to #21 on realtime rpi and #19 on espn rpi. #13 in espn Strength of Record.

Biggest reason we are winning: we rank in the top 5 in offensive rebounding and offensive rebounding percentage which is allowing us to be in the top 15 in field goal attempts and top 30 in field goals made per game.
