Unprepared team is better diagnosis , a bad team generally refers to talent; which just is not the case (excluding the QB position).
And the lack of focus and energy is why a change was made, it was time. But that has nothing to do with talent, and is impossible to guess as how easy it can be fixed.

When there is talent issues, it's easier to expect down years, (UT). But when there are glimpse of greatness and the problems seem to be driven from an emotional or attitude that's different and given the right coach ( I believe we have that) might be fixable in short fashion ( in respects to the division title ).

While there is a good amount of talent on this team, a lot of it is young and unproven, and we do have some key spots that arent as talented or as deep as they need to be. Combine that with a tough start to the season, and it could lead to some irrational fans saying stupid things.
