Radley's? This must mean something, right?

Thanks for sharing. The Dale Welch mentioned in the story was a native of my hometown York, AL and her husband was a distant relative.

I have no doubt that Fbomb,is a really smart guy,and if he was a on a drunk ramble,it would probably be interesting to listen to. I just can't imagine him doing that on the radio.
I haven't listened to him in years, but today might be a good day for his show.

100% serious. But to be clear, Finebaum wasn't drunk, Pat Dye was drunk. Most of Dye's segments on Finebaum (brought to you by Craneworks) he was a little sloshy, or so it sounded, and half of them he would get pissed and hang up on Finebaum.
Yea, I would be curious to see if they tried to get Dye on to talk about Harper Lee. Man, it was hilarious and interesting.

Damn, if I happened to stumble across Finebaum when Dye was on, I had to immediately change it. That shite made me cringe.

I mean, most of the time I thought he was pretty dang interesting. Obviously I got a chuckle out of a lot of it too, but he was brutally honest about Auburn and about the SEC landscape in general.
But when he and Finebaum starting screaming at eachother, my gosh, amazing.

Radley's was a restaurant in Monroeville until this year. It was named after the characters in the book. A local guy bought out the owners of Radley's and opened a Guthrie's, because fast food chain restaurants are apparently cooler than local flavor.
I got the cause/effect backwards. Pity. It would be interesting to learn what it was about the place that made her name Boo after it.

Shoot, I was hoping Fbomb was drunk,I would be searching the interwebs for that.
If it was good though, they might replay that today, unless it could be considered disrespectful.
Would it be?

No not at all disrespectful, Dye loved Lee. I can't remember how it came up, maybe it was Harper Lee's birthday or something?

It's risky as hell interviewing him in the afternoons, you never know when he's hitting the bottle.

I love listening to Dye. He is a great storyteller and man does he have some stories. Those SEC coaches that grew up as players in the 50's, assistants in the 60s-70s and head coaches in the 80's are my favorite in the league. They have the full modern SEC history in their back pocket.

Yeah, they have him on 560 in the morning here and he's pretty coherent.

quote:Wrong. Ms. Harper attended Huntingdon College, Montgomery, Alabama, for 1 year (1944). She then transferred to the University of Alabama in 1945 where she joined a sorority, wrote for the Crimson White and became Editor for the Rammer Jammer. She studied Law at UA from 1945 to 1949. She left for New York after 1 semester of her senior year at UA. LINK
She didn't graduate. She went to another college for most of her education then transferred to Alabama for a year then left. That said, wonderful author.

this the lady who caught HIV from Capote? wait, no this is the chick that took credit for a bird book that was actually written by Truman. She did not attend UA but was a big fan? Surprising

This doesn't sound right. She could not attend law school after only one year of undergraduate school, I don't think.
