No one has started a thread on this yet so far this year, so I'll give it a try...
1699: first Mardi Gras celebration in Louisiana
1711: first Mardi Gras parade in Alabama
Verdict: I have to give both states a tie here...I guess the winning state depends on if you feel Mardi Gras can be celebrated with or without a parade
(besides, neither could've "invented" Mardi Gras any way, as it goes back like 2,000 years).
Happy Mardi Gras, folks, and good night to all.

I'm from Mobile, and spend every Mardi Gras now in NOLA.
Mobile's claim is the modern Mardi Gras. Comus took inspiration from a now defunct parade in Mobile. Its not the interesting part though, it's experiencing the different iterations from the French part of the South.

Who invented Mardi Gras? The Romans of course.

Well, there are a lot of technicalities when breaking down this debate that could help (or disqualify) either state--that's why I figure that it's best to just kind of declare it's a tie really.
To address your point specifically, as I recall, the first parade on modern-day Alabama soil was just some guys pushing a cart around town with a papier mache' cow's head on it. Does that really constitute a "parade" per se? Alabama did eventually have the first "real" Mardi Gras parade too, but even that was held on New Year's Day (and not Mardi Gras Day) for some reason.

wiki says: Mobile was the capital of the Louisiana territory until 1720
remained part of Louisiana until the Seven Years War, 1763, after which it was ceded to Britain and became part of British West Florida
remained as such and loyal to the crown, Spanish captured it during Revolutionary War
U.S. seized Spanish West Florida during War of 1812, and Mobile became part of Mississippi territory
4 years later (1817) the Alabama territory was formed.
