I fully agree. Sadly, Auburn only has two dual threat quarterbacks on roster (JFIII and Woody Barrett) and both are incredibly raw. The other 3 can run but they shouldn't be mistaken for being a dual threat.

That's like saying history shows us that you can't use DT QBs in the NFL because Brady, Manning, Elway worked better than Tebow, Manziel

Calvin Ashley going to school in D.C. Now? He gone.

Casey Dick
Mitch Mustain
Chris Todd
Barrett Trotter
Clint Moseley
Sean White
Jeremy Johnson
There are plenty of examples with pocket passers failing to perform well in Gus Malzahn's offense. Just look at their performances against SEC competition.

His Arkansas and Tulsa qbs did just fine. Aplin was good. He hasn't had any good PP here really, especially if you want to compare them to cam

Casey Dick had a completion percentage of 49.2 and threw 9 TDs vs 6 INTs. Mitch Mustain had a completion percentage of 52.3 and threw 10 TDs vs 9 INTs. That's not good, IMO.
I don't give a shite about his quarterbacks at Arkansas State and Tulsa.
Did the pocket passers fail because of scheme, or because of the players themselves? We have 7 examples and the best of the bunch has been Chris Todd.
Even Nick Marshall was light years above the 7 players mentioned, not just Cam Newton. And I fully believe his ability to run opened up the passing game.

History tells us it's mobile quarterbacks, and it's not even close.
This isn't necessarily true. If you ranked Gus QBs by arm strength, it would be pretty darn close to ranking QB production. It isn't exactly clear cut whether DT or arm strength is the important attribute for Gus.
Obviously being a DT helps but even Cam Newton would likely not excel against tought competition if his arm strength was reduced to a Chris Todd

It's pointless to argue against me when you can't objectively disprove the notion that a pocket passer can't be successful for Gus Malzahn in the SEC.

Ugh cam newton was a freak so yes he would. Todd's arm strength wasnt terrible in 09

Hey look you stumbled into my point without realizing it

Basically he's had the best DT qb in college ever and a manziel clone in his offense.
Give him Andrew luck or Sam Bradford it'll work to

The point isn't to disprove that. The point is there's no history to show us one way or the other.

Statistically, yes. Is that an indicator of scheme or player(s), though? I find it hard to believe you can start 7 different pocket passers over a 4 year period and none of them are worth a shite. Then you have to question whether or not he knows how to recruit the right pocket passers if they aren't any good to start with.
0/7 on pocket passers and 3/3 on dual threats?

Look at the fricking QBs you listed you dolt...
The only ones you could legitimately make an argument for are JJ and White. Mustain didn't even play in a Malzahn offense.
Also, who's the 3rd DT guy?

TTs, Gus Malzahn has never had a strong arm pocket passer only QB. Until we have at least 2-3 of those come through, we will never know.
It isn't surprising that in a downfield passing attack the two QBs with the best arm strength (Marshall/Cam) have the best statistics.

Mitch Mustain played for Gus Malzahn in 2006.

You don't think Jeremy Johnson has a strong arm?
