I think the one pitch the other schools can't offer quite like Ole Miss is come here and become a legend. You can go to LSU/Bama and be another great player, or you can come to Ole Miss and do something that hasn't been done since the 60's. Treadwell, Tunsil, Nkemdiche...those guys names will be remembered forever, hell probably retired one day. At Bama or LSU they are just another great player. That pitch can only work for so long once you establish a winning program but it works for now. Some people naturally enjoy the underdog role.

Student body almost rioted? What are you even getting at? I went to ole miss when Obama was elected, there was nothing close to a riot.

You didn't even try on this one. I'd give you a 1/10 but you pandered, so I deduct a point. 0/10 and may God have mercy on your soul.

What difference does that make?

18 yr old black kids wanting to play for Hugh Freeze is one of the oddest modern social phenomenons.

BTW, isn't University property considered private?
No. Every school in the SEC is public and so is their property except Vanderbilt. Lots of litigation on the subject.
Just ask some of our Hog posters who filed FIOA requests for Houston Nutt's cell phone.

it strikes me strange that the KKK isn't protesting on any other campus in the SEC
Maybe because other SEC schools aren't taking the same steps Ole Miss is to improve race relations and foster a less racist environment.
You're missing the point that the KKK was protesting AGAINST Ole Miss.

I just think it's time to let it go. Really!

They allow the damn KKK to rally on the campus.
Yeah, you can't stop them. It's not private property.
But you are still dead wrong. Ole Miss does not tolerate this. If you actually followed the story the KKK was heckled and I believe they disbanded early due to the police fearing for their safety.

And we care about this why?

You forgot to mention wife and daughters...

Try to stop it on your campus. Public University you are? The ACLU will see you out back....

And George Wallace in the door for you Bama pricks. "Segregation forever" he said. Blocking Bama blacks for trying to go to Bama. For shame you assholes.
ETA: Bama shouldn't get into a flame war with OM over ancient racism.

I worked for the Public Relations Deprtment at Ole Miss and received the phone call from the leading KKK member when all that happened. They wanted to protest the From Dixie With Love removal. We had no way to turn them away. Every school has a protest zone. Ours is in front of Fulton Chapel. Which is where we told them they could set up. It wasn't a rally. It was a silent protest. Not one time did they say anything. They stood there. While thousands stood in front and showed their disgust with them. They left within 10mins.

The Season is a good show. Ole Mis seems to run a tight program, I can't hate them for tht.

Mississippi isn't the only state where the KKK is prominent
Actually the KKK isn't prominent in Mississippi at all, and hasn't been since the 60's. In fact, it barely exists in MS today according to a local FBI guy I talked to. Personally, I've never seen a hooded Klansman in person that wasn't on a movie set and I've lived in MS most of my life. Oxford is the only place I know in this state where they've had recent organized gatherings.
