Only if you have the block of votes to prevent it. I think the expansion of the conference footprint has a lot to keep that from happening though. But if the majority of other teams in the SEC want them in the conference, there is nothing Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Texas A&M can do to stop it.

You have to have a 2/3rd majority for accepting new members. If those five schools vote as a block, then no school can be accepted over their objections.

Bama and UT are also part of that block to ensure the third saturday in october or at least they were.

Not to mention unless a school brings a new state they dont make sense financially and will likely cost each school money from a revenue perspective, but by all means continue bickering as though Clemson, FSU/Miami or Georgia Tech will ever even be entetained as possibilities.
