Both starting DEs Lawson and Dodd... Starting safeties and TJ Green (AL native) and Jayron Kearse... Mackenzie Alexander is also likely leaving early.

That's a ton of talent and production to replace (and three guys who could've easily ended up at auburn).

Clemson lost 9 starters after 2014 season and their entire front 7.

Not saying they can reload again, but I don't think the dropoff will be as steep as you think. They have some talented kids waiting and established successful defensive system

Didn't someone say the other day that "Clemson's D was nothing special"

Surprised you didn't go all in and say that Clemson's defense is going from "not that special" to the "backups ups of the not so special"

I'd have respected your commitment/stubbornness

I hope Venables can't revamp that D like he did from 2014 to 2015. They lost a lot then too. Let's hope losing talent two years in a row is too much.

They'll return pretty much all of their offense, though. I'm going to have nightmares from now until August about Watson running for 1st downs on us from 3rd and 12.

Lol at Auburn's defense holding them to a 3rd down.

CB Tankersley and DT Watkins are both on fence. Watkins likely pro Tank split

If they go I think Clemson returns only 1 defensive starter

Ya, right now Boulware is coming back and Tankersly/Watkins are on the fence.

If recruiting rankings can be trusted, their front 7 should do a decent enough job at reloading. Nearly every backup was a top 100 or 250

Their DBs are in rough shape. Both Kearse and Alexander were top ranked HS DBs while Tankersley was top ranked Prep CB. None of their backups were top ranked

Their inexperience could be a huge factor for game 1 of their season, no matter how talented or highly ranked they were in HS

Indeed and good point. I don't think it's a given we will go roasted, but if we have no answer on offense it won't be good.

Yep, and if we end up having to replace Avery Young too, it's huge that both their starting DE's are going to be new.

That's a great point. When talking about Clemson's ability to reload some interesting points should be brought up too

-Clemson had to replace their entire front 7, but every starter in front 7 was JR to rs Senior

-Every DB was a JR except Mackensie Alexander a rsSO.

- 8/11 defensive players were either top 250 or top ranked JUCO/PREP at their position

2016

-They will replace 6 of their front 7. Only 5/7 of their backups are listed as rs or true freshmen with the other 2 rs SO

-Their backup DBs are 2 rs SO, JR and FR

-None of the backup DBs are top ranked recruits

-Front 7 replacements are not as highly ranked as 2015

It doesn't appear they're as poised to reload as they were heading into 2015... But that offense will be nasty. Other than their starting tackles, everybody is back. Their skill talent is as good as anyone in the country.

I definitely don't see them reloading on D like before. Even more new guys, not as much talent and not as many "veterans" who know the system.

Their offense line was a huge reason for their success this year. Losing two SRs is a pretty huge deal.

They'll still likely skull frick us, just not tbag us after
