Sorry, man. I have other hobbies than living vicariously through the athletic exploits of 19 year-olds.
jk
I play in a band, which was practicing during the game. We've got a gig Saturday night.

That's not going out on a limb to say viewership would be down when it last year was the highest rated game in ESPN history.
And who cares? It's about matching up the 4 best teams.
And you got this useless shite for C Cowherd, he tried to make the same point on his show today you unoriginal bastard.
I hope the country stays tired of Bama. All it means is the greatest dynasty in football history is still rolling.

Alabama fatigue.
Both teams from same part of country.
Not complicated.

It's great, really. I'm glad to hear it. The less interested the other parts of the country are the better the southern football brand gets!
Great Southern football is good for football because each passing year of dominance by teams from the southeast means fans and teams from other parts of the country grow angrier and more determined than ever before to field teams capable of toppling the aristocracy. Motivation is a wonderful thing, even if it comes from a place of rage and shriveled sex organs.

Well, what did you expect it's on a Monday night late... and did I mention it's on a Monday night late.
I don't know why they frick up something which should be so simple.
Last year it was new and shinny but everyone felt like shite at work the next day so they remember that.
It's not the Super Bowl where people take off the following Monday not close.
It was possibly one of the best if not the best football game I have watched in memory.
The Falcons Panther game and this one are the standouts for this season IMO. I didn't get to watch the Steelers/Bengals game.

Maybe the jackass should make the game when everyone won't forget about it. That week break is stupid. Play the semis a week before the last bowl. Then play NC after last bowl. But then we can't make a big fricking deal about how its so awesome that our game is going to be on the one night a year most people are at parties and not watching tv.

I'll be interested to see what happens if they actually go a few full cycles of the current setup of NYD semis only once every 3 years.
Hard to build much momentum for the title game on a Monday night when the semi-final games were a complete afterthought to nearly everyone on NYE and then followed by 2 days of exhibition bowl games.
They also have to find a way to finish before the NFL playoffs start.

Being completely objective here:
You can't really expect the whole country to enjoy watching 1 team win all of the time no matter how biased you are
Nope. I've hated the Yankees forever. I hated the Lakers during their recent titles. I hated the Bulls when I was a kid. I've always hated bandwagon dynasties. So I understand the hate and lack of interest.
I'm just glad one of my teams is that hated dynasty. It makes those mediocre seasons during my teenage years worth it.

I also love how the game that is known for Saturday, the championship is on a Monday. It would be the equivalent to the SB being on Tuesday.

Sounds like southern football fans will watch no matter who is playing. The rest of the country, not so much.
Nail on the head. The south will always watch a national title game, but the Midwest and West will only watch if their teams are playing.

Lots of butthurt L5U and Barn fans I guess. Why do you have to take it out on ESPN?
Posted on 1/12/16 at 8:02 pm to The Baker
Well nearly half the population of SC was in the stadium wearing orange.

Not trying to offend you, but I don't think you've removed those P&G glasses as far as you think you have, because you appear to be giving very short shrift to Bama's national brand recognition nowadays. It's not just the sidewalk fans, it's the people who want, more than anything, to see Bama lose. Bama is currently up there with a couple others -- Notre Dame and Ohio State, I'd say -- in the group of programs that lots of people hate and lots of people admire but very few people have no real opinion on them. Success breeds that sort of interest on a national scale.
Clemson, on the other hand, has far less of a footprint on a national scale. I suspect that, other than actual Clemson fans, most people cheering for them were doing so in the same way lots of LSU and Auburn fans were cheering for them: by default because they were the only program in position to stop Bama. Most people didn't give a damn if they won or lost otherwise (USCe and FSU fans being the main exception, I guess.)

i was watching at a sports bar in los angeles and it was like a regular weeknight. I think Clemson just isn't a national brand and this game didnt appeal to casual fans.

Bama doesn't run tv ratings as much as people around here want to think. They were part of the lowest rated bcs games and now a 25% decrease. That's significant
