and an SECCG appearance once every 3 years won't hack it.It'll obvoiusly have to exceed both of those yardsticks.
And please don't say the often regurgitated "more the one SECC in 10 years"line.
What % in the top 10 and what % do we play for it every 5 years or so? And I think everybody realizes we aren't and never will come close to Saban's run at Bama. That is of course provided that McGarity is still going to be the AD.

there is simply no way to answer that.

SECCG appearance every other year.
I think that's very doable considering the talent in this state and the division we're in.

Lets just say on year we don't pick up Bama or LSU and the SECE is better than last year...with a solid UT and UF but not dominant.

I really want to play along but you can't say now, before his first game, if we don't win X amount of east titles or Y% of games then he hasn't lived up to expectations.
In 03 we played both bama and lsu and won the east. It's like trying to define p ornographic art...I can't define it but I'll know it when I see it. I think we'll have a pretty good handle on Kirby after assessing each season on its own merit.

This is a bad way to quantify success. I would personally accept multiples years of 6-6ish teams if a NC is sprinkled in the middle. That's obviously different results from the Richt era. What I am trying to say is I expect higher highs and lower lows from the Kirby era than the Richt era.

I don't care about rankings, but I would say an east title averaging once every three years, going .500 or better against Florida and other teams we should compete with on a yearly basis. My expectations are 7-5 to 9-3 next year, likely finishing 3rd in the east.

Not talking '03 Bama that won 4 games.Im talking Bama with Saban and LSU with a good coach (Miles or not)
I was set to give KS somewhat of a pass next year but it looks like this class will be salvaged and it gives us 3 VERY strong recruiting classes in a row.I have somewhat high expectations for next year and expect us to compete for a SECC in '17 PROVIDED Eason lives up to his reputation and our DC is not a total bust.

There won't/shouldn't be any realistic expectations.
We fired a coach after a 9 win season, so the bar has been raised.
It's all or nothing time.
4 years to win the SEC slash make the play-off. The End.

We should be in the top 25 every season and in the top 10 most of the time since we have top 10 recruiting most of the time. The big hump is top 5 recruiting and a top 4 finish/get into the playoffs. But actually you answered your own question: if Smart wins an SECC over the next 10 years then he will have done more than Richt did over the last 10 years.

No doubt, the standard has been raised.

Richt won the SEC twice in 4 years and played for it 3 times (in 5 years). What are you trying to compare?

I'd say that's pretty reasonable. 4 years to win the league will give kirby a full recruiting cycle and we should be stocked to the gills with talent. We've seen time and time again recently coaches come into the SEC and do extremely well in their 1st or 2nd year.
richt in 02
miles in 05
meyer in 06
saban in 08
chiz in 10
gus in 13
mcelwain in 15
I don't think it's a stretch at all to expect us to win the SEC by 2019.

Here we go...didn't take long for one of these insipid post to pop up.
So if KS wins a SECC and finishes 6-6,2-10 or 7-4 the other years and doesn't make any SECG appearances,he'll have accomplished more than CMR in his l0 years? So you'd keep him around even if had a Chizic like slide (0-8 in the conference)?

How bout competes for the SEC Conf title more than once in the next 10 years? That would be an improvement.
