One year contract. Win and you get a second year. Lose or look shitty? GTFO.

We do it with assistant coaches. Why not the HC too?

It's a lot cheaper than hiring a guy to loiter around in mediocrity, doing just enough to NOT get fired for 5-6 years, while robbing the coffers at $5 million a year.

I am dead-arse fricking, stage-4-brain-cancer, heart-attack serious.

Come in and do some shite or take your $10 million and get lost. Finish no less than 2nd in the SEC West and you get ANOTHER $10 million, one-year contract.

I'm all for spending 10 mil on a proven coach who has won multiple championships in a power 5 conference with different qb's, especially since it isn't my money. but obviously you can't have a head coach on a year to year contract.

I think you're on to something, but we should chop it in half to 2 6-month 5 mil contracts. Look shitty during the season? GTFO on Feb 1st. Win, and you get another 5 mil to handle NSD, the junior days, and evaluate talent at the HS 7-on-7 summer camps.

Do a piss poor job on NSD? Don't pull in enough talent from junior days? Stay home and beat off instead of evaluating talent at the HS 7-on-7 summer camps? GTFO on August 1st.

Repeat until we win a national title or the AD goes broke.

Supposedly we're getting a lot less reciprocal interest in OC position than anticipated.

Lots of rumors now that Sumlins been looking for other jobs. And that replacing him as at least being discussed.

Apparently more fundraising is happening than necessary for an OC hire.
Smokin aces saying potential targets for replacement: Chris Peterson, James Franklin, and high freeze.

Not sure what to make of it. If it were to happen id be pretty happy about Peterson.

I'm not sure what other jobs Sumlin would be eyeing. What other college jobs are still open?

I don't think Philadelphia is gonna fire Chip and then hire him. Cleveland, Washington & NY Giants might open up.

Chris Peterson, James Franklin & Hugh Freeze have no ties to the state of Texas. Freeze has recruited in the state. Hard for me to see those coaches bolting from where they are, but crazier things have happened.

Fedora has done a good job at UNC. So has Gundy at OSU. Would be crazy if Mack Brown wanted to throw his hat in the ring for an open A&M job. I saw where he was interested in the UVA job. That would be a Dana X. Bible in reverse situation!

Lol. Don't want any of them. Maybe petersen, but I honestly don't know much about him other than putting Boise state on the map. Have no idea what he's done at Washington really.

I'm in the hire Herman or bust camp though.

Smoking aces isn't a troll, he's someone addicted with the program, likely at a lower level.

Peterson's recruited Texas pretty extensively. Franklin and freeze resurrected the two worst programs in the sec.

I'm just relaying what was said for discussion.

Freeze would be nothing without the boosters paying for his recruits. Seriously he's never even won ten fricking games at ole miss

If we did get the gift of Sumlin leaving I would absolutely melt cgsc style for the rest of the year if we (1) did not find a way to retain Chavis and (2) did not hire Herman. Herman stayed at UH because he wants us or Texas. Letting him to to Texas would be disasterous for us.
