Agreed. If he was suspended, even if it was a de facto suspension, it should have been announced. And, yes, KA's injury situation was very poorly managed. Don't see any way around that.

If you're saying "elite = 1st rd pick = a tall, white QB with an above average arm", I agree.

But he doesn't appear to be an elite college QB. He consistently underthrows the deep ball, his scrambling abilities are subpar, he can't make the right read on a zone read (an integral part of CFB) and he has an extremely slow release (which kills the quick game).

I'm not sure he reads defenses that well, as he's thrown a bunch of bad INTs. Apparently he's been given freedom to change plays, which has had bad consequences.

I would have loved for him to stick around for the new OC, though. He deserve better than Spav, but he apparently liked Spav, so whatever.

Toss in that he folds under pressure and you've nailed my thoughts exactly. I see nothing "elite" in him, I have no doubt that he can be better than the shite show we witnessed this year, but I've seen nothing from him that tells me he's elite. Now maybe that was all offensive scheme and sumlin/Spav woefully let him down, we shall see when he plays for a new coach and new school.

n above average arm"
his arm is better than just above average. look at his touchdown throw to josh in the nevada game. 30 yard laser from the opposite hash
quote:

He consistently underthrows the deep ball
no. consistently underthrowing the deep ball is what kenny did. kyle does not do this consistently
quote:

as he's thrown a bunch of bad INTs.
he throw interceptions against ole miss and bama this year. you know, the games he was hurt in
quote:

his scrambling abilities are subpar, he can't make the right read on a zone read
that was never his game to begin with. we can argue all we want about how he continually failed to figure out how to successfully run the read option, but ill just bringing back that it was stupid to keep forcing him to do so. just like forcing carson to run outside of the tackles
quote:

he has an extremely slow release (
i wouldnt go as far to call it extremely but yes, his slow release is really the only big detriment to his game

Can we agree that KA being forced to run read option was simply stupid?

Just as stupid as Kyler being told to stay in the pocket and not to run

Brilliant idea brought to you by Dave Christensen, who was another failed hiring of Sumlin's.

except to be able to run as a quarterback, you have to make the defense at least respect your ability to throw the football. kyler does not come close to that

They both need each other to work, since they knew he'd never run they were free to go at him.

It's not fair to say that kyles shortcomings were all on the coaching but Kyler's were not

Lol that ball was a perfect example of an underthrow. Rewatch it.

Arizona State INT was terrible. Nevada too. Plenty of other bad throws, just don't think he's anything special reading defenses.

And I agree he's not a natural ZR QB, but it's a big part of college football and he sucks at it.

when did this ever happen at a&m? when did johnnys passing numbers go to shite? they didnt. you know why? because he was actually competent at throwing the football. he gained his yards on broken plays BECAUSE people were afraid to crash down on him because they knew he could make a throw downfield

these are manziels passing numbers:
2012: 68% completion, 8.5 yards per attempt, 26-9 touchdown to interception, a rating of 155.3

2013: 69.9% completion, 9.6 yards per attempt, 37-13 touchdown to interception, a rating of 172.9

you know what kylers passing stats looked like this year? 59.5% completion, 5.7 yards per attempt, 5-7 touchdown to interception, a rating of 109.2

that isnt going to cut it. for him to be able to rely on his feet to move the ball, he is going to have to make defenses respect his ability to throw the football

what? that was a perfect throw from the opposite hash, 30 yards out. that was no where NEAR an under throw. it was a perfect pass

so he has made a poor interception in his career? well frick

Plenty of other bad throws
then how come his stats never really showed this until he got hurt?

but it's a big part of college football and he sucks at it.

you can do perfectly fine without the zone read
