Muschamp looks like the worst hire since?

I'm talking about a hire that looks like total crap at the time.
I won't count John L. Smith because it was a one year deal and Arkansas was on on a tough spot timing wise.
Maybe Zook?... I don't know it's tough. Many hires have turned bad, but at least at the time there was some reason for optimism. This Muschamps deal seems terrible. I can’t believe South Carolina couldn’t lure someone better.

Derek Dooley will still be a worse hire.

Keep in mind it's just SC. It'll also be the first time since the 90s they haven't had a geriatric leading the program.
I'd say this hire is solid for them.

Dooley will always and forever be the correct answer to any question regarding the worst hire in SEC history.

Tanner bumblefricked his way through this entire coaching search. He, or SC, could not have possibly looked worse if they tried.

I know Dooley turned to be pretty bad... but wasn't he doing a decent job at LA Tech? or no really? Sorry I know it's been discussed likely a thousand times... but I can't recall.

And yes, that's Mike Wallace and Benjarvus Green-Ellis to the right of him. And we still went 0-fer in conference play that season.

Mike Shula was a bad hire, but given the circumstances it wasn't as bad as Dooley was for UT.

It wouldn't be bad if he had learned anything about offense from Gus.
But, he hired his failure of an OC from Florida's 2014 season, Kurt Roper:
2014 offense at UF under Roper:
Scoring offense – 56th
Rushing offense – 43rd
Passing offense – 106th
Total offense – 96th

O had Little experience but at least it was a huge ? at the time Ole Miss hired him. If anything this is the equivalent of someone hiring O a year after Ole Miss fired him.

Dooley had a losing record at La Tech.

Do people not know who Curley Hallman is?
Brett Favre is the worst thing that ever happened to LSU's football program.

Then yes, this is the worst.

He could have them competitive but I don't think he is ushering an era of dominance. still think it was a risky hire.

Dooley was 17-20 at Tech, and had a losing record in 2 of his 3 seasons there.
