I think the main difference between Agent Boom and Smart is personality. CWM is abrasive whereas CKS is generally very likable.

Are you not somewhat surprised/worried that a program of UGA's stature is hiring an unproven assistant coach? I would have thought they would go after a proven HC. I was dismayed when AU hired Gus after only being a HC for one year at a small school. He at least showed that he could handle the responsibilities. (Jury is still out whether he can handle the SEC, but I am satisfied that he will right the ship.)

Georgia always hires that way. Only time we ever went after a current head coach was when we hired Jim Donnan.

What proven HC (a realistic hire) has the upside to make it worth firing Mark Richt?

UGA is obviously rolling the dice, but it's clearly ready to take a chance.

Not really. Worked out pretty well the last time around. Besides, WHO would we have gone after (realistically) that would have been better? I can only think of Herman, and even that would still be a gamble.

Kirby is the longest-tenured of those assistants under Saban in probably the most high-profile position next to the overlord. Kirby is to Saban what Vader was to the Emperor. Steele, Dooley, etc.....more like Darth Mauls. Fizzled pretty quick, but also weren't near the same caliber disciples.
