Yeah, there were some warning signs though. A certain LSU fan listed them out preseason and I didn't want to listen but he maybe was right. It is such a weird situation, I am half waiting for someone that knows more about football like tmc to chime in and say " It wasn't his fault, the OL suck because of X, Y and Z."

Agree on this as well. It could be that with better OL play A&M will suddenly be good again at the passing game.

I think Speedy being hurt hurt. He is our best playmaker at that position outside of Kirk.

Here's my problem with people saying speedy, o-line etc...

Our offense was the best game for the opposing defenses all year long. So ALLLL those other teams must have better o-line play, and better receivers??? I don't buy that at all.

As a coordinator, one of your jobs is to try and hide your weaknesses and I think Spav did a very poor job of that with his play calling.

I don't think anyone but Sumlin and Spav will disagree with you on that. The problem is if the Oline doesn't get better then any OC we get will be handcuffed.

Yeah that didn't sound right to me, either. But I had to check. First 3 SEC opponents:

Arkansas
A&M total yards 423
A&M points allowed 28

UT total yards 365
UT points allowed 20

MSU
A&M total yards 516
A&M points allowed 30

LSU total yards 337
LSU points allowed 21

Alabama
A&M total yards 316
A&M points allowed 23

UT total yards 303
UT points allowed 14

I don't know if the opponents I found had the least offensive production - I stopped looking after I found one worse than A&M. Without going to the trouble I'd imagine we were the worst against Ole Miss and possibly LSU, but it definitely wasn't an "all year long" thing.

Failure to properly identify and position personnel is the main culprit.

A tale of 2 coordinators.

John Chavis:

-Moves Daeshon Hall to strongside end from weakside end (SUCCESS)
-Moves Julien Obioha inside to tackle from strongside end (SUCCESS)
-Moves Donovan Wilson to nickel and demotes Devonta Burns to special teams (UNBELIEVABLE SUCCESS)
-Moves Brandon Williams to cornerback (SUCCESS)
-Starts Richard Moore over A.J. Hilliard late in the season (SUCCESS)

Jake Spavital:

-Starts Avery Gennesy at Left Tackle (FAIL)
-Keeps Germain Ifedi at Right Tackle for two straight seasons (FAIL)
-Constantly rotates LG starters between Stuckey and Sutherland (PUSH)
-Doesn't start Koda Martin at tackle when he's clearly the best one we have (EPIC FAIL)
-STARTS DAMION RATLEY AND PLAYS HIM SIGNIFICANTLY DESPITE THE FACT THAT HE SUCKS (INEXCUSABLE FAILURE)

I have to say, this one confused me after game 1. Tabuyo? Pope? Both mostly invisible. No, let's put the guy with the persistent dropsies out there. He's bound to learn to catch sometime.

Substantial smoke that Spurrier and Spav become co-OC (or Spurrier OC with Spav relegated to QBs only). Apparently Sumlin has tremendous proclivity towards Spav and wants to keep him around, if possible.

If spavital has any job on the team next year, outside of putting decals on helmets and making sure everyone's swaggy uniforms are clean, I'll flip the frick out.

Pretty stark contrast, and quite damning for one Mr. Spavital.

Almost every time Allen was sacked, the tackler came from the left side due to a whiff by Sutherland, Stuckey, or Gennesy.

Not True. Lots of times when Cheek pulled and missed his block on the left side that resulting in a sack. Also, I feel like Kaden Smith was on the right side most of the time but if he was ever on the left side, I'm certain it resulted in a sack.

Going back to epic fails by the OC and the WR's that played this year. What happened to Iheanacho? He's 6' 220lbs a freak athelete but were running Boone and Ratley out there?
