Pending a crazy 5-7 team going bowling it looks like UGA is about to take over as sole owner of the #2 longest bowl streak.
It doesn't mean much but it's something.

If GT somehow gets a waiver and makes a bowl at 5-7 I am going to be incredibly salty about it

With the fact that they keep adding more and more bowl games each year, you'll probably see a 5-7 team make it. We just need to handle our damn business and make sure they're 4-8.

Frankly, I don't even want to think about us backing in at 5-7. This year has been absolute shite. We've had to play 20 true freshmen this year, which is chaos for our system. Sucks, but hope it translates into good experience on the field next year. Every team has years like this, but damn it sucks when it's your team.

If they are not going bowling then you better believe the only thing they have left to save the season so to speak is to beat UGA. They will probably have their best game against us just for that reason.

I've always thought this logic was retarded. They aren't going to try any harder against us now than they would if they were bowling. They're going to do their absolute best to beat us whether they had 10 wins or 1.

I'm pretty sure you have to win 6 games to be bowl eligible.

I could be wrong but I thought several years back they didn't have enough eligible teams to fill all slots and a team with 5 wins got in.

Yeah, I think you're right actually. I forgot how many stupid bowl games have been added. I'm not sure I remember a team under .500 getting in though unless they were 6-7.

6 wins and a 500 record. You can count 1 victory over a 1AA school in the 6 wins. It takes 80 teams to fill the bowls.
If they don't get to 80 teams under the above rules, they have guidelines selecting teams such as 6 - 6 more than 1 win over a 1AA school etc. It is possible a 5 - 7 team could get in a bowl.

So that means they're less removed from their own high school offenses. I don't see the problem. It's not a bug, it's a feature.

If The Dawgs lose to a Dumpster Fire Nerds team that would leave the Richt situation interesting??

Actually if VT beats either UNC or UVA to get to 6 wins they continue to be #2...
FSU... 33years...
VT... 22years...
GT... 18years...
UGA... 18years...
