The series is dead even after nearly 120 years.

Is 8 the number of fluke wins by auburn?

Say what you will, but you can't get much closer than that in a rivalry!

Which 2 teams make up this rivalry?

I remember seeing a stat during a game several years ago where CBS or whomever was broadcasting the game showed the cumulative score for each team over the course of the rivalry. They were almost dead even as well. Truly a game I always try to watch.

Nice, but I still think South Carolina-Texas A&M is the fiercest and most storied cross-divisional rivalry

Aren't the total points pretty close, too?

Here's the thing ... UGA and Auburn has been evenly matched, is fairly close to one another and it's a solid rivalry. Very solid even.
But until you can contribute multiple deaths to the rivalry, until you can cite history where the two schools tipped over bleachers and started shooting at one another or where the two schools got in fights where Calvary sabers were drawn and blood shed ... until you can say the mafia came down with fake tickets and oversold the game that caused another near riot ... until you can say you brought a cow out and declared her homecoming queen of your rival and the rival fell for it ... and so on and so forth ... and until you can call it the longest "continual" rivalry in the Deep South, the second longest in the country ...
But the UGA Auburn rivalry is outstanding.

Always my favorite game of the year; love the rivalry. I enjoy beating Tech the most, and hate losing to them the most, but with all my old friends who went to Auburn, it's always a fun time.

One of the 8 ties, should really be an Auburn victory. Seems like the refs favored Georgia from way back. 1899, the game was called for darkness by some ref named Rowbotham. Auburn was winning 11-6, driving on Georgia's 20 yd line with 30 seconds left in the game. Rowbotham stopped the game, erased the scores and made it 0-0 tie.
Even the Georgia players were angry that Auburn wasn't credited with the win-
Oh, and most of the players on Georgia weren't even students and should have been ineligible.

Even the Georgia players were angry that Auburn wasn't credited with the win-
quote:
Here’s their halfback, last name of Young, talking to the Journal: “Auburn won the game by hard work and should have been given it. It was very distressing that the game should have been called when it was, and no one stands more ready to accord the men from Alabama a victory—a clean, hard-fought-for victory—than I and other members of the Georgia eleven.”
Oh, and most of the players on Georgia weren't even students and should have been ineligible.

Neither team is particularly strong this year...but Auburn seems to be finding their footing and UGA is still searching for answers. Should be an interesting game. I look forward to this game every year.

But the real question, for you LSU fans: do you care about said rivalry? I hear you offering your unsolicited opinions on this subject often. So I'm curious if this is one game y'all all have circled on your calendars?

Gotta be embarrassing for Georgia.

Why did the authoritarian mods edit my post?

Well this yearly rivalry needs to end so LSU doesn't have to play Florida every year.
