Very intrigued by Fuente, but I think Herman might be a better fit.
Sad thing is, I don't know that McGarity is man enough to bring in a rock star hire like that. We need a rising star sort of guy to keep/bolster recruiting in the event of top-down change.

Jumping from memphis to UGA would be a HUGE jump for an experienced coach, but for one with little to no experience....could be very tough.
4 years of head coaching experience is a heck of a lot more than Richt had when we hired him. What we need is a program builder, which Fuente has done very well, because Richt has helped tear ours down.

Based on what example?
First, UGA has NEVER gone with an established, big name coach in the past. Without that, I don't ever recall any team changing and established head coach and maintaining a strong recruiting class. They typically lose many of their major recruits. Example? Look what happened to USC e when Spurrier even HINTED at leaving after 2 or three more years.
Is that example good enough? Remember, most of you guys have labled UGA a dumpster fire. How many major recruits want to go to a dumpster fire that just hired a former assistant coach? I suspect if Richt goes, Pruitt and Schottenheimer will be gone, too. (I think Pruitt will be gone after this year, regardless of Richt staying or not) How many of our recruits will still come here....reports are out that eason is already opening up his recruitment due to all the turmoil.

Averging 10 wins a year is hardly tearing down a program.
Making statements like that is unrealistic and doesn't help your argument. if your argument is he can't get us to the next level, and the program is stagnant, I can see and understand your reasoning. But call the program a dumpster fire...or saying he has torn down the program is telling me you love hyperbole.

Maybe...maybe not. I suspect McGarrity had something to dow ith the Pruitt hire. (Nothing to base this on....just guessing)

Do you recall any team changing and NOT maintaining a strong class? You forgot to provide an example.

Exactly, And now questions about Richt's job are here to stay, so it doesnt make sense to keep him around. How many major recruits want to deal with that?

David Pollack, DJ Shockley, Robert Geathers, Greg Blue, Fred Gibson, and Mudcat were all major recruits who went to UGA despite a coaching change in 2001.

The program is currently no better than it was when Richt arrived. It was once much better.

I agree. Look at how Donnan's recruits worked out for Richt.

And who would be like that?
No idea. Maybe Fuente? Florida got a good one with coach chiclet teeth.

Urban Meyer is NOT coming to UGA.
Obviously. He has one of the premier jobs in college football.

True, and a good point. But, I am talking about the administrative work...personel dealing....stuff outside of coaching duties that you have to deal with at a huge University.

No. It has never been better, actually. However, that is an opinion on both our parts. However, no coach has had a better win % and only Dooley had a National Championship in our lifetimes. So, no. It has never been MUCH better.

Maybe. And he is in the situation that I would like to see our next coach come from. A large program that is not in UGA's stature. He is an intriguing candidate that just might make a change to UGA.

Possibly. But McElwaine is the exception to the rule. AND< let's not say he is great until he does it for a few years. Muschamp looked good for a year or two.

No. I didn't. I said USCe. Just on a statement by Spurrier they lost several top recruits last year. They are not recruiting well this year, either.

Because you don't change coaches every time a malcontent pushes for a change, that's why. There will ALWAYS be SOMEBODY wanting a change.

Man, I really like Herman. The only thing that scares me is he only has one year of head coaching experience.
If we were to go with Herman, I'd love him to have one or two more years under his belt before bringing him in. Let him run the cycle of a couple of years as a head coach to see how he does.
As Feldman mentioned on Russillo's Show yesterday, there are some coaches that would be interested in the Georgia job that will surprise people. This makes me think we can get a bigger name, a more established coach who has proven he can win.

We won 2 championships in richt's first 5 seasons. How is that not much better than now? Our program improved the last two times we changed coaches. Facts.
