SEC COY: Billy Kennedy, Texas A&M. A case could certainly be made for John Calipari, but Kennedy deserves special recognition for finally bringing Texas A&M out of the doldrums and into the NCAA tournament. He has a roster of good players but no superstars, and the whole is much greater than the sum of its parts.

If Kennedy wins the SEC but loses in the second round of NCAA

Is the season a success?

No since I already thought we had an outside chance of winning the conference. I'll consider this season a success if we get into the 2nd weekend of the tournament. Just winning one game will not be a disappointment but definitely not a success

It depends on who we lose to. If we're a 5 and lose to a 4, for example, then technically it's "expected".

If we're a 2 and lose to a 7 or a 10, it's not.

It would suck to lose in the 2nd round, but yes. Winning the SEC would be awesome. We haven't managed to win a conference championship in 30 years.

To say the same thing another way...Billy Clyde Gillispie never won a conference championship at A&M.

One could argue those Big XII teams were better (and they definitely were), but winning the SEC means you were better than Cal's Kentucky team.

Also helps that we're 4-0 vs the Big 12 this year
