The line is what is wrong with the offense. Not the QB, and not the play calling. When we had McElroy and AJ we had OLs that could just take over games and impose their will on defenses. UGA 2012 is a great example of this. Kiffin hasn't had that luxury and has had a RB/athlete and now Coker.
He has to game plan around all that. And I love Henry but he's not nearly as effective between the tackles as our past RBs. Yeldon ran better inside that Henry can. His style just isn't that of a 245lb back.

I feel like anyone who just dives at Henry's ankles can tackle him because he doesn't have those quick shifty feet like any of our past RBs

I agree with the play calling. I know it's not Kiffin fault that the OL was getting whipped, but Damn you gotta call plays to compensate for it and help out your qb. Roll outs, screens, quick slants and what not. frick I dunno, just glad they won. Our defense is the tits.

The hand off out of the pistol takes too long, they wait on the RB to flow by, or fake a stretch run when under center. That is why I like being under center, and the QB takes a 5-7 yard drop and fakes the hand off on the way back. If you are 7 yards deep you can then block the fast pass rushers on down the field and step up in the pocket, with a Pistol you get a 4-5 yard drop and it takes longer to develop.
At the sane time, it is better to take a sack then to throw one up for grabs, he has got to understand this, unless its third down, then you can chunk one up 30 yards down field when pressured, that is better than a sack.

They did do a pretty job.
Bama had three extended drives in the first half that only netted 3 points. Moving the ball was not a problem. Cashing in was.

The shotgun is a horrendous running formation for a back like Henry. Also, our OL is extremely ill-suited to run block from it. Put their fricking hands in the dirt and start blowing people off the line of scrimmage.

My only gripe I have with Coker is how he crumbles under pressure. When he sees a blitz, he just panics and makes bad plays rather than just throw the ball away.

outside of those picks

To high, white boy dont have the same hops...
Coker is our best QB, I wished he would just run a little more when he options break down, that is when he forces the passes.
Kelly just doesnt seem to e able to handle ig guys, you ave to get nasty.

Until the start of this season, it had been about 5 years since he played regularly.
It just takes a lot of real in-game experience to improve here. Practice and scrimmages can't perfectly simulate the atmosphere.
He's improving. Much quicker than our O-line, I might add.

I'm not really upset at Jake Coker.
O-line was a disgrace.
When you combine the worst O-line of the Saban era with the worst QB, bad things are bound to happen. Hopefully, both will get better.

Coker is improving imo. If the oline will give him time I think he will come thru.
PS- the O line needs to improve a lot. I hope they are capable of it.

People really seem to forget the growing pains McElroy, AJ, and Sims all went through in their first seasons.
Coker is dealing with a line that is pretty poor in pass pro and a super inexperienced group of WR's (and we already lost our #1 guy).
He bounced back and had a fantastic 2nd half against Arkansas.

My only complaint is that if we are going to take lumps at the qb position why not make it a younger guy so they can get experience?

Because playing for next year when we still are in playoff contention is dumb.

I wish we had done that as well, but we are basically past the point of no return on that.
You also have to make it a fair fight though. Bateman got a chance and Coker won the job.
We've had success with first year guys, so I don't think it is the end of the world that we will have another one next year.
I'm way more worried about the RB position next year.

I think Harris will be good.
If Scarbrough stays healthy then he could be a superstar if he lives up to his talent.
Will Flowers be back next year?
Then whatever 4 or 5 star freshman we bring in next year..

Yeah it is just more of the unknown factor right now since we haven't really seen a lot of Harris and Bo yet.
