I feel like his game is different. Bigger and bigger hitter.

His stats so far this year are nuts. 2 sacks 2 INTs 3 FF. probably my favorite player on the team honestly

he just makes plays. Chavis has done a good job putting him in a position to succeed and Joseph has done an excellent job coaching him (and others) up

Probably the highest compliment you can pay a defender

Agree. Devonta Burns played nickel for us all last year. I don't remember ever thinking he was awful. I don't remember ever thinking he was good. I just forgot he was out there mostly. But you know it every time Wilson is

One thing I love about nickel in Chavis' scheme is that it's not just the guy that isn't good enough to start at corner.

That's the highest compliment. Honey Badger was LSU's GOAT.

He might have been more explosive, but I think PP7 was the better overall player.

No. TM7 was a better college football player than PP7. Dude completely changed momentum of so many games.

Patrick Peterson is/was the better athlete but Mathieu just had, for lack of a better word, "instincts." He was everywhere.

I miss me some Honey Badger.

One thing I'll give Chavis is that he knows how to utilize the Nickel CB spot well when he has the right player to do it.

Now Jackie Sherrill has weighed in saying that Wilson, Watts and Evans should all move to LB.

Who asked for Sherrill's opinion?

That was on his weekly call in with TA.
quote:

When you look and break down the tackle chart in the SEC, in the top-13 there are 10 linebackers, two secondary players, Armani Watts is in there at number seven, and one defensive lineman. And then when you go deeper, you have 25 linebackers and 17 defensive backs, three defensive linemen and one defensive end. So, linebackers are so important in the game in this day and age, because you have to have people that can make plays in space, sideline to sideline. You would like to have linebackers that are making 15 tackles a game, that’s when you know you have a dominate linebacker."

quote:

“There are three of them back there, you know Armani Watts, Justin Evans, and Donovan Wilson. I kept trying to get Coach Chavis, I said, 'You know, you got three guys back there who are making all the plays, why not put them at linebacker?’”

In the nickel/mustang, Donovan is pretty much a linebacker.

I think Evans and watts are where they should be

Yeah Wilson is basically a hybrid LB. Moving Watts and Evans, especially 5 games into the season, is an absurd notion for many reasons

Yeah that's a terrible take that you would expect to hear from some idiot calling in to a talk show.
