Rocky Top Post-Fulmer: A Brief Summary

There is simply not enough hate leading up to this game, so let's jump right in...
37-43 since the end of the 2008 season.
Syracuse, Duke, NC State and countless other powerhouses have more wins during that time frame.
0-6 v Bama
0-7 v UF
1-5 v UGA
0-2 v AU
0-2 v LSU
A combined 1-22 against Big 6 competition.
What about that one victory? Half of UT's current defensive staff is comprised of half of 2009 UGA's defensive staff.
The Kiffin Era (2009)
Things were on the up and up for about 4 months. 7-6. A great time in recent UT history inspired by:
Rocky Top All Night Long
It's Time Per Big Vol Daddy
2009 Recruiting Class
The Dooley Era (2010-2012)
Can't image what the administration expected when they hired a 17-20 coach from La Tech, but they received similar results - 15-21. Dooley managed one conference wins over his last 15 conference games - a squeaker against Vandy in OT.
The most memorable moment from this regime:
13 Men on the Field
The Botch Era (2013 - Sunday, November 29, 2015)
Dave Hart didn't feel the fans suffered enough. How can we do worse than Dooley? Hire a guy that lost to Dooley and let that guy hire the defensive staff from the one Big 6 team we beat since Fulmer was around. Let's make sure he can recruit well enough to inspire hope, but possess such poor game management skills that he receives death threats less than halfway through his 3rd season. Mission complete.
Wins over the likes of Austin Peay, Western Kentucky, South Alabama, USCe X 2, UK X 2, Utah St, Arky St, UTC, Vandy, Bowling Green and Western Carolina leave the big orange contingent restless.
Results in both physical abuse and verbal abuse:
Absolutely Ridiculous
Justified
UT still faces UGA and three conference road games. Not to mention Vandy's D looking strong. Barring an unprecedented 8 game win streak to close out the year, UT will yet again finish w/ less than 10 wins. Barring 6 straight conference victories, UT will yet again miss Atlanta. Barring an unlikely 4-3 finish, yet again UT won't be bowling.
Sometimes you don't know what you have until it's gone:

Dude, they're so beaten down you aren't going to get much hate back. It's like a ton of bricks have fallen on every single one of them.

They found out all those bricks were cards. Now they have the sadz. It's apparent pride isn't even a factor now.

I mean, the Kiffin era was CLEARLY the highlight of post-2008, right?
- almost beat eventual unbeaten Alabama in Bryant-Denny
- annihilated Georgia
- annihilated South Carolina
- talked shat to everyone
- signed a highly rated recruiting class (half of them are in jail now, but they didn't know that at the time)
- went 7-5 in the regular season and went to the Peach Bowl

All out of bricks. How about I have Mack Crowder body slam him?

But it was also the lowlight emotionally. Has to be factored in.

I can honestly say the only time since Fulmer in which I was the least bit nervous about Tennessee was the tailend of Kiffin's first and only year. He could clearly coach, he was recruiting like wildfire and they were a media favorite due to him and all his yapping.
Dooley and Butch are/were minor league coaches.

"They" were also duped by the gullible talking heads in pre-season who bought into the Tennessee hype machine. Not the first school to take a hit like that and won't be the last.

That's not brief. This is: we've sucked dick.

That championship was so long ago. We are only a few years until 20 years have passed. I cant imagine having to wait longer than that.

He won 8+ games in 7 of his 9 seasons during the 00s. Shoe a little respect.
