For those of you who grew up in Alabama like myself and then moved out of state. How many of you actually moved back or have plans to move back?
Do you like where you are now more than Bama?
What are some things you miss, don't miss?
Why'd you move in the first place?
PS: I'm not sure if this board is strictly for sports topics only, so if it goes against the rules just request admin and we will have it taken down.

I've only lived in Alabama and I am anxiously awaiting an opportunity to move away.

Dying to move back to the Mobile area. Probably won't until retirement though.
I live in the Phoenix area, but much prefer the Mobile lifestyle.

Lived in the Gadsden area for twenty years. Lived in Middle Tennessee/Nashville for the next fourteen. Zero desire to move back. I miss Jack's.

Grew up in Tennessee to an Alabama family, so moving to Bama for college felt like a Jew coming to Israel.

Reason why?
Just don't like it here. Too damn hot in the summer. Not my music scene. Lack of any sports interest beside college football here. Etc.
I'm really just bored out of my mind here. I have no desire to hunt, fish, or camp, so that really limits my recreation possibilities.
Most likely looking to move to San Diego in the next few years. Will also consider moving to Denver or the Pacific Northwest.

I lived in Alabama my entire life until I moved to Texas for a year and now I'm in New Mexico. Enjoy it because of the outdoor activities but damn I miss Milos and bass fishing..
Not to mention the fact that if you even bring up college football in Albuquerque people look at you weird. All NFL fans here..

Although I'll probably never move back, at least not until I've finished my run in the military, I do find myself thinking about Dixie a lot. Grew up in the outskirts of Birmingham and enjoyed every second of it.

I grew up in north central Alabama and - thanks to the U.S. Coast Guard - lived in the San Francisco Bay area (tons of stuff to do but very high cost of living and nightmarish traffic), New Orleans (good food, great people, Saints), St. Petersburg (nice beaches, Disney World, Bucs), coastal North Carolina (beaches), Corpus Christi (beaches - notice a theme?), and Phoenix (hated it). I returned to my home town when I retired, but sometimes regret that decision. Each location I have lived had its positives and negatives, but what I've realized is that it's not as important WHERE you are, but WHO you surround yourself with.

I thought Alabama was fine until I actually travelled outside the Southeast.
Posted on 10/2/15 at 1:41 pm to rammerfinjammer
I grew up in Montgomery, went to to school in Ttown and now live in bham.
I like bham but I definitely want to experience life in a different state just for something new.

I live in Montgomery because it was the first place I got a job after college. Birmingham is probably the only place in Alabama that I might enjoy living in.

Visiting places and living in some of those places are two entirely different animals. California is a perfect example; GREAT place to visit, but living there got old - quick.

I can't say that I'd ever consider moving back to Montgomery.

I moved out of state when I was 18. 16 years ago now. I have no real desire to go back. I like to visit family and friends though.
I like Kansas. I live in a bigger city than what I grew up in, but I feel like I am about 15 minutes from the middle of nowhere all the time, which is nice to go visit every once in a while.
I think for me, I just needed a change of scenery. Anywhere else would have worked. The military just sent me here, I got married and stayed.

I wouldn't recommend it. I only moved back because my parents live in Prattville and I got a job with ALDOT. Now that I have my PE, I'm ready to move.

Moved to Bham from Atlanta and DO NOT want to go back - I like it here a lot better...

I would definitely not want to live in ATL. Neat place, a lot to do, but wayyyy too many people and way too big for my liking.

I moved away and moved back. Lived in Atlanta, Charlotte, and Mt Pleasant, SC. Job(s) took me away and brought me back. Had an opportunity to move to Kansas City soon after I moved back, but declined the offer and have been in Bama since.
Hated Atlanta, loved Charlotte and would consider moving back there, though it has changed a lot since I lived there in 1999. Mt Pleasant was okay, but I found the people in the Charleston area to be rather pretentious. Would not move back there.
I didn't really miss anything about Bama while I lived elsewhere except for my family and friends. I dove in an tried to experience the cities and states I was living in at the time.
