What is a reasonable amount of time for a coach to win a national championship

I am just wondering because I know some Georgia fans who think Mark Richt needs more time even if he doesn't win it this year. 15 years seems more than an adequate amount of time imo. I am cufious as to what other people believe

Less than fifteen years honestly.. At a major program any more than five years questions should arise on just how good you are.

3-4 years
Almost all coaches considered the best of all-time have done this
Unfortunately Richt is a second tier coach

if he doesn't win the East, fire his arse. If he wins the East and loses to the West barely(which is what will happen), then you keep him but put him on notice. If he doesn't win the whole thing next year(which won't happen), fire his arse.
So preemptively, you should probably fire his arse.
With all the money, resources, and pretty much first pick of kids in the state of GA, there is no reason why he shouldn't have already. none

It took Fulmer exactly 5 years and he was a borderline great.

Actually I take that back.
At a stepping stone program like Georgia 10 years.
Richt still not acceptable

Seeing that most coaches don't get a top job from the jump. I'll say 20 years. Just look at the coaches that are winning championships. I think that Stoops and Jimbo are the only ones to win it during their first stop

Question is: Who will Georgia get that's better than Richt? He has GA in the hunt for the East every year it seems.

Even if Richt never gets to a national championship...I would never get rid of him. He's a great coach.

Call me crazy, but I think winning a national championship within X amount of years isn't exactly what a coach's worth should based on.
That shite is hard, and unless you're going undefeated, it takes some good fortune and some things to fall your way.

His problem was Peyton Manning. Once he left the team - BOOM - national championship!

what's the point in playing if you're not playing to win a championship?

Shiny hook, like polished platinum.
That being said Richt and Pinkel have the same number of natties.
Of course, GP walked into a shite storm of suck, and Richt walked into an actual football program. With actual players to build from and all.
Just sayin'.

You must be talking about 3-4 years at a new school. I do know that neither Saban,Bryant, nor Meyer won a championship in 3-4 years of becoming a head coach
