Les Miles did something truly awesome for an Alabama kid this past Saturday.

LSU Coach Les Miles made good on his invitation issued months ago to a Mountain Brook teen battling cancer.
Miles in March surprised LSU superfan Sid Ortis, 16, with a Friday-night telephone call, telling him, "Life is not how long you live, but how well you live it." He spoke at length with the 16-year-old, and then prayed with him. He also invited him to visit with him at a game, which happened Saturday in Death Valley.

Kudos to Miles for making this kid's day.

I know it's been posted a few times, but seeing that powerful pic never gets old

Miles easily has the biggest heart in the SEC

Can't be posted enough.

I almost got banned last night because of an Aggy douching up the other thread about this. Stories like this can't be posted enough to remind everyone that some things in life are bigger than football and message boards.

Yeah on the one hand it sucks my Auburn Tigers lost. But to be honest, I'm glad for the kid that he got to see his LSU Tigers in person win a huge SEC game at home in a dominate fashion. Even if it was just a day, he got to forget about cancer for a little while and just be a 16 yr old kid getting to watch his favorite team win and even meet his team's coach, which sadly he may never get to do again. That's bigger than an Auburn loss and for that reason, I'm glad LSU won.

Yup. A critical conference game against a divisional opponent, and he still makes time to give the kid his undivided attention. All "Anyone would do that" comments considered, not every coach drops what he's doing on gameday to do that.
I've always liked Les (Minus the 2009 spike fiasco), but even then I still have taken him for granted

Looks like not only did Miles let the kid come down on the field and meet him and the team, he also let the kid and his family watch the game from his own private suite. And when LSU travels to Tuscaloosa in a few weeks, this kid and his family will once again be Miles' guest in his private suite. That's freaking awesome.

I feel like Tom Rinaldi is going to jump all over this story and make me cry like a bitch by the end

That is awesome. Well done.

This would bring a tear to a glass eye.

I swear, I hope Les stays at LSU for a very long time. He's a class act, and an amusing guy as well.

This is a monumental "if", but could imagine if Saban had never gone to Alabama?
The goofiest class act would probably be considered the best coach in the conference, or at least would be the most successful. Not that I don't appreciate what he's accomplished, but I think it's something that crosses most LSU fans' minds as we sip bourbon and take a bite of a corndog
